What do you expect to happen in the New Year?
If one forms opinions about the New Year from an economic, political, social, or health perspective, one may wonder and worry about what is coming, especially considering unexpected events and turmoil that happened in 2020. But there is a way out of any feeling of uncertainty and worry.
Rather than seeing the New Year in terms of what may or may not happen from a material point of view, see the New Year as a time to better understand God’s control.
Under God’s control, events turn out favorable. Good outcomes evolve. Solutions appear. Healing happens.
Chaos, conflict, disease, lack, and loss have nothing to do with God. They are symptoms of mortal mind believing that something other than God is in control, namely, evil.
As we understand God to be in control, we demonstrate divine control in our lives and for the benefit of those around us. An understanding of God’s government takes control of circumstances, conquers evil with good, resolves conflict with Love, and heals the body with Truth.
There isn’t anything uncertain about the future in God’s hands. The outcome is predictable good.
Take material uncertainty and risk out of your life. Welcome in God’s predictable goodness and walk ahead with confidence that the New Year is going to be progressive, fruitful, and blessed!
Choose to have a good year–a God-governed year!
Great post ! thank you Evan.

Thank you so much, Evan. Makes me think of this from Science and Health on page 544:”No mortal mind has the might or right or wisdom to create or destroy. All is under the control of the one Mind, even God.”
Thank you Evan. You make us all delve into our spirituality every day. Grateful❣️
What a great perspective. Thank you Evan
Lookng forard to all those precepts unfolding for everyone. Thanks for the past. the present and the
future unfolding of our spiritual being. All is good.
DEAR Evan I am amazed and grateful. Today’s Spirit View is just perfect and SO HELPFUL and just what I needed and what the world needs to comfort, strengthen and protect us. This is another example of “before they call I will answer!” I was thinking of emailing you to see if you could please address the rampant fear and uncertainty! I have two well-meaning friends who follow conspiracy theory websites that predict dire things to come in the United States and purport our media is lying to us. I’ve been trying to deny these suggestions affirming “the government is upon His (God’s) shoulders” and “the Lord God omnipotent reigneth.” Rev. 19:6. I’m so grateful for Christian Science and Mrs. Eddy for enabling us to see what is true and overcome fear! I’m cherishing my reason for being: “I am able to impart truth, health and happiness, and this is my rock of my salvation and reason for existing! My 165:20
Thank you, Sharon. And our govt, citizens and the media are also able “to impart truth, health and happiness”! We WILL get there!
“Gratitude is riches, complaint is poverty” CS Hymnal.
New, already existing but seen, experienced, or acquired recently or now for the first time:
It’s not a continuation of a new calendar date, but a
“NEW “way of seeing good. Off with the old, on with the “NEW”
“Behold I make all things new”
Thanks for a “NEW” SpiritView each day. ♥️
Thank you M for this practical definition of “new!”
Thank you, Evan, for reminding us of God’s constant control. That is right where our focus needs to be. The mortal view of a new year or any new time is often one of hope, renewal, and resolve. But resolve without the unction of divine Spirit is human will which soon loses its effectiveness and withers away and the mortal is left with everything mostly as it was. But spiritual resolve is effective for it feels, “… the divine energy of Spirit bringing us into newness of life.” That is the timeless and continual effect of omni active God’s control. Every day is the day the Lord has made.
Thank you Evan, and responders and to Loren for such a beautiful way of responding with our spiritual harmony intact always when God-governed. “Today is the day the Lord hath made; Be glad, give thanks, rejoice; . Stand in His presence, unafraid, In praise lift up your voice. CS Hymnal page 342
Loved, “stand in His presence, unafraid.” Thanks!
Thank you Evan for S V, I’m looking forward to this everyday and the replies from my brothers and sisters in Christ. This is part of the ongoing healing activity of the Christ.
Thanks so much Evan . As all of the views you thoughtfully provide, this one is so apropos to the times. What a great way to start the year, month, week …..EVERY DAY! Chose to be God governed!!
Thank you Evan. The world needs Christian Science and I am so grateful for its teachings. The Kingdom of heaven is within us – within our own consciousness. I’m praying to see it’s where we ALL live.
So many good and helpful articles on JSH about government.
❤️❤️
I like what Mrs. Eddy said in My. “O blessings infinite! O glad New Year! Sweet signs and substance of God’s presence here, Give us not only angels songs, but Science vast, to which belongs the tongue of angels and the song of songs.! “
Ines, what a beautiful quote to share. Right where mortal mind sees chaos and discord the angels sing the songs of harmony and peace.
Thank you, Evan…hope and expectation of good is what we ALL need!
Here is one definition of Year: The period of time during which Earth completes a single revolution around the sun, consisting of 365 days, 5 hours, 49 minutes, and 12 seconds of mean solar time.
I love the idea of newness of thought and God making all things new, but it is also good to see, (from the above definition) that a year is just a measure of human time. As God’s reflection we are timeless beings made by a timeless God, continually unfolding His good. The same good “yesterday, today and forever.” (Heb. 13:8)
–Similarly from from Hymn 148
“In heavenly Love abiding,
No change my heart shall fear;
And safe is such confiding,
For nothing changes here.”
I enjoy so much how each of us expresses unique, individual and inspired responses to each day’s SpiritView message. Love to ALL!
I found a link to Hymn 148 (mentioned above) sung by Lisa Redfern from one of her CD’s, she also shares some remarks about her connection to this song (on Time for Thinkers). Acapella with beautiful harmonies.

Certainly a timely and on point message i.e., God governs.
Observation to Sharon: Media lies are not a suggestion, Your implication is that media driven messages purport Truth is naivete. The media is agenda and ego driven hardly a repository or reflection of Truth, but more likely riddled with human error and, therefore, to be thoroughly examined and confronted.
Having to write day of birth on so many forms, I could feel definitely a Senior. At Christmas a friends told me she was having dinner with her
Friend of 97 yrs who lives independently, entertains and drives a Sports car, The infinite possibilities expressed. Thought this worth passing along.
Thanks MJ, I always love hearing about those of riper years expressing God’s freedom, vitality and Life.
Thankyou Evan really helpful..
Fantastic! How much fun to look ahead with your suggesiton of looking to God first. Many thanks
Thanks again Evan. “There isn’t anything uncertain about the future in God’s hands. The outcome is predictable good”.I love the line “predictable good” – so powerful!
