Be honest with what God is telling you

Have you ever felt like God is not speaking to you? You pray and pray and listen and yearn for answers but end up mentally in the same place you started—with no new ideas?

If this happens, challenge yourself to listen better and be honest with what you’re hearing.

God is always speaking to you. The voice of wisdom is always present in consciousness giving guidance and direction. You can count it. It’s a fact. A given. It’s an absolute.

So, the bigger question is, “Am I listening to what God has to say? Or am I ignoring it because I persist in clinging to my old notions and selfish ways?”

The voice of wisdom does not necessarily bellow out commands like a drill sergeant with in-your-face instruction. The voice of truth is often subtle, quiet, in the background, humbly stating what you need to do and how to do it. So, we need to get humble too when listening for this direction, and be genuine and sincere with what we hear.

When I was in a job that was not right for me, the voice of wisdom had been telling me for a long time that I needed to move on to a new career, but I resisted. I shut the voice down because I feared lack. I was listening more to the error of mortal mind than to the truth of divine Mind.

When wanting to lose weight 30 years ago, the voice of wisdom gave me all kinds of healthy instruction, but I denied it for years because I persisted in my selfish wants—too much love for food, laziness, procrastination, claims of helplessness, and more. The voice of wisdom was leading me aright and telling me exactly how I could be healed all along, but self wants were getting in the way.

And I could go on with a long list of excuses the human mind comes up with for not heeding God’s voice. “I can’t. I don’t want to. That’s not what I want to do. That sounds scary. I’ll do it tomorrow,” and more turn a deaf ear to God’s healing presence.

So, be honest with what you’re hearing! To be truthful, you likely are hearing exactly what you need to do to move forward and conquer that challenge you’re facing, but you’re letting fear, self-concern, or doubt get in the way of heeding Truth’s call.

To make progress, shut down mortal mind and its wants and fears, align with the divine Mind, and happily bound forward with the direction God is pointing out. Heed wisdom’s call! It will get you to the best place you could ever be, and the fastest.

  1. ah yes. I feel I am finally facing some large mountains that have blocked the view for a long time. We get used to the perimeters in our ‘life’ and it is a while before we see they are not part of life, however long they have persisted.

  2. One thing I have learned is that even though I am not listening or think I am not listening, God forces himself on you where you can’t escape from God’s word no matter how you try. ISNT THAT WONDERFUL ?

  3. Persist in prayer, cling to good only, listen, listen to the quietude of God’s voice. Thank you for this reminder to keep at it, carry on—refuse to listen to error’s nagging whisperings or roars. Thank you for this encouraging article of love. Nothing can resist or stand up against God’s love for His children.

  4. The clarity is clear and what I need to hear, as sometimes I get off tract.

My thoughts were focusing on this and I was looking for the right way to revalue my thought process. A timely message, and well, here it is. God works in positive ways as I was looking for this guidance.
Thanks Evan, you must have been listening!

  5. God is always guiding us, but I don’t always hear or follow when I do hear. I resolve to go forward being quieter and listening more – and acting only on what comes from God. Thanks for the encouragement!
