Honor God

March 6, 2026 | 17 comments

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up in honor.

~ James 4:10, NLT

You don’t have to worry about building yourself up.  In fact, self-promotion can be a liability, for anything built up in the world comes crashing down at some point.

The wise let God do the building.  They let God work through them.

What is formed with inspiration and understanding coming from above endures.  It honors God and the expressor of it.

Let God go first.  Follow divine Mind’s lead.  You’ll be glad you did.

Seek God’s honor and prosper.

  1. In pondering this message, the thought came about building on the
sand as opposed to building on the rock (spiritual foundation). Even
if elaborately built- a sand castle of material sense … the tide of Truth/God
comes in and washes materiality away. If we build on the premise of
fleeting mortal beliefs, like grains of sand in an hourglass, they fade away
and time (mortal measurements) are limited and vanish. But if we are
humble and realize our reflection of God’s being in Spirit, we honor and
adore the Truth of our being and these qualities live on into eternity.

  2. I am seeing an equivalency here: Honoring Divine Mind is humbling self. And visa versa. What a great trade-off, eh?

  3. Humility before God’s greatness and allness is so important. Thanks for this reminder.

In society we’re taught, through subtle, and not so subtle messages, that we should build our “selves” up and seek others’ approval of “ourselves” and “our” accomplishments. That kind of thinking is a formula for unhappiness, dissatisfaction and frankly, misery — because it leaves God out of the picture and makes us feel alone and left to our own devices.

Material accolades and human approval come and go. I get into trouble when I forget these truths. If I try to build up a so-called, mortal self it’s a waste of time, which could best be spent glorifying God and humbling myself before Him, trusting Him to hold me in His wise, loving care and to guide me in all areas of life.

    1. Your contribution is timely, about God’s greatness and allness. Curbing human motives but receiving divine messages no matter what we accomplish, the spiritual care and loving guidance affect everything we DO, and think as coming by God’s direction.

Even tough stuff, 1.) end of the year taxes, 2) exercising our bodies by working out 3) eating properly foods which are good for us.

Run everything by God’s message, to detect what one needs to do humanly. That’s a winner for all of us, so good to see in action!!!.

  4. Along these lines, I’ve been inspired by some verses from this week’s Christian Science Bible Lesson from The Message Bible —

God—you’re my God! I can’t get enough of you! In your generous love I am really living at last! My lips brim praises like fountains. I bless you every time I take a breath; My arms wave like banners of praise to you. Psalm 63:1,3-4
On your feet! Bless God, your God, for ever and ever! Nehemiah 9:5
It won’t be long before this generous God who has great plans for us in Christ—eternal and glorious plans they are!—will have you put together and on your feet for good. 1 Peter 5:10
Our prayers for you are always spilling over into thanksgivings. We can’t quit thanking God our Father and Jesus our Messiah for you! Colossians 1:3
And that’s about it, friends. Be cheerful. Keep things in good repair. Keep your spirits up. Think in harmony. Be agreeable. Do all that, and the God of love and peace will be with you for sure. 2 Corinthians 13:11

    1. Thank you for posting this Carolyne and for sharing your comparative studies.

I am a great fan of The Message, although I do love the poetic rhythm of many KJV citations as well.

I particularly like the interpretation of 2Cor. 13:11, spot on! I plan to write this out in my journal for reference while on my travels, feels so “real”!

    1. A great reminder, thank you, Evan and another great article, thank you, J. Being humble is hard and I found the second paragraph both amusing and relatable. There are so many helpful ideas in the article.

  5. Honouring God is fundamental to our progression towards spiritual understanding. I’m so glad we have 72 hours to keep coming back to Spirit View to read everyone’s thoughts and get links to articles this weekend ❣️

    God’s Care
    DORIS HARRISON WHITE
    God’s loving arm upholds you,
His care surrounds you still
    Rest in this sweet assurance,
Nor doubt how good His will.
See all that would oppose Him—
Alike unreal, untrue;

Know health and peace and plenty
 abound in Him for you.
    Let gratitude and gladness
 replace each anxious fear;

    Love giveth you dominion—
The Truth that frees is here!

    1. A lovely comforting poem, BarbaraUK, thank you for sharing that.
It is very helpful to me at present.

God is worthy of great honor indeed, and we can but be humble before
Him as we feel His loving arms around us when we turn to Him for help.
If we don’t feel that love, we can know that if we truly humble ourselves
before Him, we will experience it. Much to be grateful for, and much to rejoice
in when we feel God’s loving presence with us, particularly close
      when we need Him most.

      1. Thank you Barbara for the great poem, very powerful and comforting…and true. I too value having the whole weekend to ponder the SV message and come back to read more comments.

Maggie I like what you said about if we don’t seem to feel that loving Peace and Presence of God, we can humble ourselves more deeply and get quieter and know He is here. Then we can surely experience our natural state of being in God’s loving arms.

  6. Wow Shelagh, you say what I feel too. Here are so many great truth comments manifested this weekend. Thank you all very much indeed! Such a helpful article, dear J , and dear Barbara that’s a wonderful poem by Doris Harrison White. Thank you both so much!
And thank you all you dear SpiritView friends, for your deeply inspiring comments, Rose and Carolyne and I love your comparison with the house built on the Sand. “The tide of Truth/God comes in and washes materiality away, when built on sand of material sense. Thank you very much dear Angel!

Hi Evan I’m grateful for this so important toppic up here which resulted in many loving, inspiring and lively commentations this weekend!

i just remember one sentense of a hymn. When I translate it from german into english it’s this
