How to feel more of God’s presence

December 15, 2021 | 19 comments

Would you like to feel more of God’s presence? A simple way is to think about God.

You’re thinking about something all the time. Why not think about God?

In this video, I share ideas on how to think about God on a more regular basis and experience the great blessings that come from being aware of God’s presence.

This vlog was filmed at the Woods Canyon Lake, in the Apaches-Sitgreaves National Forest, Arizona, when my wife I visited in May 2021.

  1. Yes, don’t complicate it. Just think about God in the moment. He is all power. He is all truth. He is all love. Don’t try to drive the outcome by human thinking. God just is. Listen quietly.

  2. “Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee” (Isa. 26:3).

“Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity…. The salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them” (Ps. 37: 1, 39, 40).

    1. I was left thinking about a situation I found myself in yesterday wondering whether to post a reply using it when my eye fell upon your quoted bible passage. “Fret not thyself because of evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity…. The salvation of the righteous is of the Lord: he is their strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord shall help them, and deliver them” (Ps. 37: 1, 39, 40). The thing about it was that I saw through the illusion of the material experience this time simply by staying my thought on God. It was clear to me that a. The person involved was innocent and b. Error was merely mascarading as my friend. (Who is not an evildoer, I know his True nature.) It was most natural to go directly to thoughts of God. Indeed God is my strength in the time of trouble. And the Lord did help me, and deliver me” (Ps. 37). Today I choose God.

  3. A practitioner I used to know used to say to me that she keeps her thoughts on God even when doing mundane everyday housework…she would be doing the dishes and ask herself “What quality of God am I expressing now?” And she would think of purity and washing away extraneous unwanted thoughts or maybe opinions about people and INSTEAD, seeing their perfect clear expression of God. When ironing the clothes she would see that this human activity symbolised getting rid of the “creases” in thought…any idea that is inharmonious or causing a “ripple”! She was smoothing out her thoughts to be as harmonious as possible. IShe told me this SO MANY years ago but even now I often still think of it.
Thank you for keeping us on the ball Evan!

    1. Diane, what a wonderful way of using those times when we think we are just performing mundane activities. We are always expressing God in some way if we just remember to tune in to that fact.

I was thinking that God’s presence = God’s presents, gifts, spiritual gifts — harmony, peace, joy, love, guidance, care. We are focusing on gifts and presents at this time of year and hopefully we’ll also be aware of the only true gifts.

“Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning.” (James 1:17)

  4. Thank you, Evan, for always providing reasons to feel hopeful and helping us to find ways to get on, or stay on, the right path, and for doing it in such an uplifting and joyful way!

  5. Thank you for this amazing site. There is so much to appreciate and love about the topics that target the days moments of watchfulness.

  6. This is so good & timely..I’m dealing with negative thoughts regards certain situations at my workplace! This has ministered to me so much & I’m so grateful for the help. Thank you Evan for keeping us on track with Spiritual understanding!

  7. What a beautiful reminder that God is all around us, constantly, in everything we do and
everywhere we are. The sound of wind chimes at the end of the vlog and when I hear my
own wind chimes, joyfully reminds me of God’s presence, God’s presents, gifts, to us even
though we may not see Him/Her…the gentle presence of Love surrounds us always
    and in all ways.

  8. My Christian Science Teacher cautioned us to never think about God without thinking of His idea (yourself). They are at one, united, inseparable, forever.

    1. Thank you so much, Janna. A wonderful reminder to do it right. Thank you Evan for another great vlog. And thank you all commenters. I love the reminders that God’s presence (presents) are truly gifts to us all at all times.

  9. “One God, good, guides, guards and governs all.” If we think of God in this way, everything will fall into place perfectly and we will have no fear that anything other than God is with us continually!

  10. Wow, what a great way to start the day. An amazing vlog and message – and beautiful scenery! Thank you Evan! Love all the comments too. Comforting to know that we don’t have to be distracted thinkers, and that we always have a choice as to what thoughts we entertain.

  11. Although it is sleeping time here I want to comment something. In the evening I often get good ideas and thoughts, whereby it is to say that actually God is giving us all right ideas we need. That is most comforting.
I think it is very desirable for us all to come our God nearer and close.
And I find it a wonderful idea and very helpful to ponder the 7 synonyms of God as Evan proposed. I started with “Principle”.
For me God as Principle is the only great Cause an Creator of Heaven and earth and man and all life. That was my first thought and it is a good start to get better aquainted with the all good and everpresent God.
Thank you very much Evan, for your wonderful Vlog today, I love it very much!♡
