Take possession of the body with Truth

December 14, 2021 | 18 comments

If you ever feel like your body is out of control, take control back with Truth!

In explaining how to govern the body, Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “Take possession of your body, and govern its feeling and action. Rise in the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good. God has made man capable of this, and nothing can vitiate the ability and power divinely bestowed on man” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 393).

To “take possession of your body,” is to take possession of your thought. It’s to take responsibility for your thinking and make conscious choices to agree with Truth and to disagree with disease.

As Mrs. Eddy instructed, we have “the strength of Spirit to resist all that is unlike good.” The strength of Spirit is the might of Truth to keep us inspired, healthy, and well.

We are never helpless. We are not required, ever, to consent to suffering and disease. We can destroy suggestions of disease with treatments of Truth.

Take possession of your body by letting Truth take possession of your thought.

Under Truth’s government, the body falls into line with expectations for health, and remains at peace.

  1. Thank you, Evan. ❤️ Your blogs/vlogs are always complete, standing on their own power, inspiration, and enlightenment. Thank you for all that you do. Much gratitude!

  2. I have been praying with this statement for awhile now. Thank you, Evan, for this wonderful affirmation. You are a very bright light of Truth shining out.

  3. What a treasure of Truth lies in those words of MBE.
We all need to be aware of the absolute Truth behind
the statements. Holding our thoughts in check when
the images are not in line with the Truth of Being.
Thanks be to God for His gracious creations great and small. LindaLou

  4. Thank you, Evan, for reminding us of this helpful statement, and for helping us apply it. I’m learning that taking possession of one’s thought is not a willful human action, but an opening of one’s thought to divine Mind, and acknowledging the Truth which governs. Appreciate the article you shared, Angie.

  5. Thank you for this excellent message. It made me remember something I heard on a recent Sentinel Watch podcast Dec. 6, 2021 entitled “The Kind of Dominion that Leads to Healing.”
    https://sentinel.christianscience.com/sentinel-audio/sentinel-watch/the-kind-of-dominion-that-leads-to-healing

During the podcast the person shared about a healing he had and how during the height of feeling extremely unwell he suddenly blurted out a loud, firm NO. He realized he had the divine right to reject what was clearly unlike God. And that was the beginning of his complete demonstration of the truth of his undisturbed wellness in God. I loved hearing that and have started to employ this NO, whenever something is seeming to be very unlike God, good. Things and thoughts come up all day, giving me ample opportunities to use this spiritual tool/truth. Blessed day to all!
