It’s easy to be a reflection

July 20, 2016 | 16 comments

One of the beautiful concepts Christian Science teaches about man’s relationship to God, is that of reflection. As the moon reflects the light of the sun, man reflects the intelligence, wisdom, health, love and life of God. God is the source. Man is the blessed. And the term “man,” refers to all of God’s men, women and children.

Understanding reflection brings great peace to everyday activities.

For instance, if you ever start to feel stressed out, it’s likely time to consider that you are not a god unto yourself trying to make things happen, but a reflection of God’s ability to make good things happen.

Stress, anxiety, worry stem from the belief that we are a god unto ourselves, that we are the responsible party, and in control or out of control. It can lead to a feeling of isolation, lack and even hopelessness.

One cure, is to understand oneself better as reflection.

A reflection of God never lacks for any good. God’s reflection is whole, complete, empowered, filled with wisdom, strength, creativity, inspiration, health and every other positive quality requisite to live happily and healthily.

A reflection is never stressed out or worried, for a reflection of God knows what God knows.

God always has a solution. God’s reflection hears and receives that solution.

God always knows what to do. God’s reflection knows what to do too.

When you see yourself properly as reflection, you will feel no lack. You will discover more and more of your wholeness and completeness in God’s image.

It’s easy to be a reflection. Enjoy the “easy-life” today!

  1. What a lovely inspiration. Thanks so much Evan. When you know you are the reflection of your Father-Mother God, things move so smoothly and effortlessly. No tensions, no worries, no carrying of burdens. So helpful to know and understand that as reflections we are complete, satisfied, joyous, peaceful, happy, healthy, intelligent, spiritual, perfect, serene, upright, immortal, full of energy, holy, pure, innocent and beautiful.
Sometime back your inspiration was on…God Plans our day. It was so helpful when I entrusted the day in Gods hands, dropping self will. Gods plans for me that day, worked out so wonderfully and was filled with inspiration.
Your inspirations truly are so helpful and we are so so blessed. Deeply grateful.

  2. Thanks for this! Recently I was listening to a CS lecture or audiochat online – can’t remember who it was, although it was a woman (if anyone knows, please share!) – but she talked about us being God’s reflection, as when God looks at us, it’s like S/He’s looking in the mirror! All that we are is right there – exactly like God! We can’t contain anything else.

    I love that!

  3. Once again Evan, thanks to you for being God’s perfect reflection and sharing your understanding and learning with all of us. I am off to walk the beach in the sun knowing who I am!

  4. As reflections of God only good can come from that activity. Thank you Evan. Just what I needed today. In our current political environment I find myself challenged to be constantly aware of God’s presence with all of us and to rely solely on his presence to guide me.

  5. Thanks Evan
Like so many have said in the past. This reminder comes at just
    correct time!!
    In Appreciation!!!

  6. Love this Evan! You make it sound so effortless!! What if you just don’t FEEL like God’s Reflection…..how do you get there..?? You can’t really Will yourself there……..so how do you get your Will and Your Little Human Self Ego out of the way……to be a better transparency for the Light of Truth and Love to shine thru? Does it take some Prayer and Meditation…..some Studying and Understanding…..??? Some positive Affirming and Knowing….??? Thanks!

    1. One feels separated from God when they think they are material and physical. God is Spirit. The more you identify with Spirit as your Source, Creator and Maker, and see yourself in terms of Spirit-qualities expressed, the closer you’re going to feel to God.

It’s material sense that feels separated from God, because it is. Spiritual sense is connected with God.

When feeling disconnected, make a prayerful concerted effort to shut down all the material fears, worries and concerns in consciousness, and start thinking more spiritual thoughts. At first, it might feel slow in happening, but if you stick with it, the mist will lift and the sunshine of Truth will start to glow brightly in your thought. And healing comes.

  7. How inspiring this blog is and all of the comments. Being a reflection doesn’t take any effort, it just exists. So we don’t have to work hard to reflect God – we are always reflecting Him as His perfect likeness. We just have to make this realization ours consistently.

  8. Thanks for your explanation, Evan! That makes things a lot clearer…I can feel the mist lifting already! Much Love and Blessings!

  9. As I was reading your explanation to Bevi of Sandpoint, the phrase “Human and Divine Coincidence” popped into thought. For years I have been working to understand more of the meaning behind that phrase. Each small step of progress is bringing it nearer in thought. Thanks!

  10. Thank you very much indeed, Evan, just what I needed, to be free to give a testimony at church tonight (20th July), because I remembered what you said in your SpiritView, that we are the effortless, free and lively spiritual reflection of GOD, Truth, Life and Love!

  11. My daughter knew I was struggling with anxiety the other day – she forwarded this post on ‘Reflection’ to me. It hit the nail right on the head! Thank you. What was a lovely surprise to me was that although raised in C. S. I had thought she no longer practiced it – to learn she subscribed to your blog page and was alert enough to send something that met my need was so precious – proving just One Mind operating to bless all. Thank you for all you share.
