Know your Dominion

November 3, 2014 | 12 comments

God gave you dominion! You have dominion over the earth and everything upon it, as recorded in the book of Genesis.

If you ever feel lost, unsure, weak, helpless or forsaken, remember, you have dominion over that feeling. You don’t have to play the role of victim, give up or resign to failure. You have spiritual power and authority to exercise over that untoward condition, turn it around and get to a better place.

Never forget about your dominion!

Dominion includes your ability to do the right thing, to see solutions, to hear the Voice of wisdom, to act intelligently, to be strong, healthy and well. Dominion is ability, capacity, mindfulness, strength, foresight, insight, and spiritual mindedness. Dominion is expressing the presence of God. It employs the power of Mind to make wrong right.

Weakness, disease, lack, depression, anger, resentment, ingratitude are not dominion. They would deny the presence of God and make evil a reality.

Dominion is good over evil, knowledge over ignorance, strength over weakness, supply over lack, and love over hate. Exercising dominion is being everything that God has created you to be. It’s living out your potential as an heir of Christ.

So, if you’re ever tempted to feel like mortal existence is getting the better of you, don’t! Remember your God given dominion over that feeling and your spiritual capacity to think and act in a spiritual way that leads to progress. You are never helpless. You have dominion!

  1. This is a great way to put this, keeping the focus on the one “forest” of dominion, rather than what sometimes appears as the many “trees” of challenge.

If those trees seem Sequoia-sized to me, I have found that taking a baby step on the dominion side — listing one thing for which I am truly grateful or expressing love and interest in someone I might not ordinarily seek out, as two possible examples– can shift the perspective to where dominion appears already present, God-given, not humanly manufactured.

Listening for God’s guidance on how to do this more consistently, so that life is lived from glory unto glory, instead of from challenge to challenge.

  2. Wow, what a powerful, all-encompassing view of dominion. Thankfully, I don’t have to realize full and complete dominion, 24-7, to be blessed by just a partial understanding of its power.

Sometimes just knowing I’m holding steady, not sliding backwards on a challenging day is enough! Other days, an encounter with a fellow seeker, a few hours in nature, an inspiring book, song, or movie and I’m soaring!

Either way I’m grateful for this message. Thanks mucho.

  3. Dominion is not a “try”, it’s a must. The world is in a terrible grip of mortal beliefs and the light we have is a “must” shine, not a try. Working hard to understand God and the works of Jesus accomplish the demands of justice and security, spiritual growth and self-immolation.

  4. There are 2 kinds of evil. (1) Outside the body. (2) Inside the body.
Evil # 1 is the easiest to spot and sometimes the easiest to escape from. The invasion of Normandy is a good example. The Nazi’s are known to be evil and to eliminate at no cost. And that what was done.
Evil #2 however is harder since it involves a suggestion that one is weak and can not have dominion. Therefore give in to it. The Truth of the matter is that error was never created in the first place, therefore there is no law governing it And one doesn’t have to fall for it.
Dominion over both is a given.

  5. Pat, But that is where the Christ, Truth comes in…God GIVES us dominion! If we are trying to use our own human ability to get there, we’ll struggle. If we acknowledge that “I can of my own self do nothing” and “God performeth the thing that is appointed for me” then it lifts the burden on us and we find dominion. Hold on to the Truth, even if the words seem empty at first, they WILL dispel the human sense of despair. Godspeed! (=

  6. Thank you Evan. I do think it is something one of my teachers called ‘mind fasting’;not allowing a thought that is not of God into your thinking. I find that a little practice sincerely done each morning and throughout the day does reap benefits. I still feel at times the scale is tipped too much toward the old way of thinking and then something happens and I respond as the One Mind and my little i is shocked at how effortlessly it went. It should seem to be a choice as to where you want to live? in love, God, peace or in the sea of mental garbage?

  7. Terrific, thank you once again Evan. I had never thought of “dominion” in that way…love over hate… This is such a powerful thought-mover. Great.

  8. Great message Evan. Thanks. I have been “trying” / praying for dominion in my garden; for the weeds to grow elsewhere. I lOVE my garden. Perhaps the weeds are attracted to the love.
    🙂

  9. Your message came just in time, it is just what I needed. I never thought I could be fooled into thinking my cool could be disturbed, but it was, until now.
    Many thanks Evan.
