Let God calm the storm to a whisper

September 11, 2025 | 15 comments

Storms take many different forms.  Dangerous weather patterns are a form.  But raging anger, out of control emotions, irrational fear, paralyzing doubt are others.

Whatever storm you’re facing, you are not alone.  God is with you!  The power of God is present to still the chaos and restore order.

In Psalms we read about those who turn to God for help in the middle of distress:

“Lord, help!” they cried in their trouble, and he saved them from their distress.  He calmed the storm to a whisper and stilled the waves” (Psalms 107:28,29, NLT)

To demonstrate dominion, put self-concern aside.  Shut down material sense.  Commune with spiritual sense.  Let God’s Truth take over your perspective, and you’ll find the storms of mortal mind calming down around you.  A path to safety will open before your eyes.  Peace takes over.

The storm that appeared so awful will be reduced to a whisper—no longer of any consequence.

  1. Evan – Thanks for today’s wonderful blog. Just to let you know, the link to this blog in your daily email is incorrect, it’s taking me to Rockridge Little School … might be worth re-sending it with an updated link.

      1. Yes, thank you for this, Evan. A much needed message after yesterday’s tragedies. The link took me to some ad for vacationing in southern Florida.

  2. I love this idea and it absolutely met my need today! The storm of mortal sense tries to bring about worry, fear and uncertainty but we can instead listen to the ‘calm, strong currents’ of Truth and feel the peace that is innately ours.
Like David, the link in the email took me elsewhere (in fact, to South Florida Commercial Real Estate News!)

  3. It takes me to the story of Elijah being told to stand
on the rock before the Lord, and the Lord went before him, and there was an earthquake, wind and fire – but God was not in any of them,

I love the Hymn 148 – In heavenly Love abiding.

Part of the 3rd verse sings:

The storm may roar without me, / My heart may low be laid; / But God is round about me, / And can I be dismayed?

There are no storms in Mind to upset God’s peace and harmony, and that is where we swell which God all
around us to protect us from all kinds of storms.

    1. Lovely Maggie.
You always seem to beautifully and thoughtfully enlarge Evan’s initiating message.
Thank you so much Evan and Maggie. B.x

      1. CORRECTION I have just re-read what I said- of coutse, the word “swell” should read :”dwell”
We don’t ;swell; with God, but “dwell” with him !!!1 Sorry about that, but I hope you
        realised what I meant.:

  4. by the way I got there through the actual spirit view app. but trying to get their via the email link did not work. FYI.

  5. In the Bible Lesson this week is this:
    —————–
When it is learned that the spiritual sense, and not the material, conveys the impressions of Mind to man, then being will be understood and found to be harmonious.

Spirit’s senses are without pain, and they are forever at peace. Nothing can hide from them the harmony of all things and the might and permanence of Truth.
Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, page 214:14,32
    —————–
Reading that made me realize that whatever discord the material senses may present, when we shut out that perspective from thought and instead realize through prayer the “counterfact” (or accept what God is knowing), that spiritual sense perspective will become reality to us and the illusion of discord is “silenced”. That approach works for any discord because discord is not real and is just a suggestion that there is something/someone outside the control of God, ever-present Love.

  6. I got a chuckle out of all the different places email got diverted to for readers…but no one was fooled (just like with mortal sense) and everyone made their way to ‘SpiritView’! 🙂
