Let your light shine bright

“What is to give light must endure burning.”

~ Viktor Frankl

A candle burns to create light. The sun burns to shower light on its solar system.

Through burning, the wax of the candle is transformed into light that brightens its environment. The same happens with the sun. To shine, these producers of light give up their material form.

Jesus said he was the light of the world. His “light” was the spirituality he lived and demonstrated. To let this light shine, he had to give up all materiality. He gave up any attachment to this world to have Life in Spirit.

From a physical point of view, it looked like he lost everything with the crucifixion and desertion of his followers. It looked like he really “got burned,” as current slang may articulate his plight. But in the end, he lost nothing and gained everything—spiritual life forever at-one with God.

We have Jesus’ example to follow. We must not fear “being burned.” What we give up materially, prepares us to gain spiritually. What we have with God, is far superior to anything the world could ever offer.

So, have no fear of trials and challenges. They are occasions of “burning” that serve to take away material mindedness that may be holding you back. But as material sense is given up, and spiritual sense embraced, the realities of God will enlighten your consciousness and lift your thought and experience higher to God. Your light will shine brighter. You will be blessed, and everyone around you.

  1. Thank you, Evan. This thought is very valuable to me at this time. It is such a clear statement of a challenge I have been facing, and is so helpful in the fact that it opens a door for me to a new and uplifting view of what I have been experiencing. The burning is transformation.

  2. Thank you for your faithfulness to listen to Spirit and share the .message of Light..

  3. Thank you so much Evan. Perfect message for my day. Blessings to all today . May you all shine brightly.

  4. Thank you.
MBE’s Mother’s Evening Prayer includes the phrase, “no fear since God is good and loss is gain.”

The only loss is of that which had no life, truth, substance or intelligence to begin with.
“All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation,” states the Scientific Statement of being.

It’s always the lie that’s consumed, the BELIEF that matter has any substance to form us, give us beauty or wealth, intelligence to animate us or life to die.

Once oil that was burning a piece of chicken splashed on the back of my hand. Immediately the conviction came, “You can’t burn God, you can’t burn me.” I repeated that truth, soaring into a consciousness of spiritual presence and power until it was all that I knew. This consumed any fearful belief in any other substance or intelligence but God, who is goodness itself, never harmful or harming. When I glanced at my hand at dinner it was completely untouched.

  5. I find this so thought provoking and insightful today ! I had never looked at it like that and now am just basking in all the ways that takes my thinking and applying it to a problem I had been praying about. SO helpful !! Thank you for sharing your shining light Evan, it has made such a difference in my mornings, I look forward to reading your blog, it’s one of the first things I open when I arrive at work. And so many times, it’s just the right ideas needed for sharing to those around me in need ! Grateful and wanted to express it !

  6. What Annepad says, it is also very very helpful to me.

Thank you very much, dear Evan for today`s very inspiring SpiritView.
A burning candle is a symbol of peace to me.

Specially the sentence: “What we have with God, is far superior to anything the world could ever offer”, is so clear and important to me, because – what we have with God is more than we can imagine and is most desirable and all we need to be happy, healthy and joyful !

Thanks Elizabeth for your insight “the burning is transformation!.” For me that means “transformation” from material life to the understanding of our real spiritual life which is God, our loving creator.

I am grateful for these insights I receive from SV and all the wonderful comments – thanks to all! Have a lovely weekend 🙂

  7. Hi Julie,

thank you, the complete hymn 15, all three verses are so lovely and suitable for today’s SpiritView.

  8. So lovely! Yes, when we let our light shine by putting God, Love, Spirit, first in our lives, that light shines and blesses others. We feel blessed when we see that light in others, and vice versa. It makes for a better world!

  9. Today’s SV is a beautiful “Amen” to yesterday’s
SV!! Letting go sometimes feels like losing something one is not ready to leave behind and will leave a burning hole! But offering up the pain or regret of whatever and to acknowledge God’s present, loving, and all inclusive goodness is SO awesome! After years of struggling to rid my thought of past memories in one instant of inspiration from a friend, all the memories just left- dissolved and I’ve been happily and freely happy and totally free!
