Many theologies in the world today teach salvation from suffering in an afterlife. That humanity is doomed to suffer from the shortcomings of mortality in the world we call “material,” and if they take the right steps to redemption, they’ll find a better life after death.
If one were to believe the above, they might be setting themselves up for a lifetime of temporal suffering. This is not fun, and it’s not what Jesus Christ taught.
Jesus Christ taught us how to find freedom from suffering now, here on earth. We don’t have to wait for an afterlife.
Eternal life doesn’t start in a place called the hereafter. That wouldn’t be eternal life, for eternal life has no beginning. Eternal life always exists. We possess it now. We have the blessings of eternal life to experience now.
In referring to the apostle Paul’s understanding of what Jesus taught, Mary Baker Eddy writes, “Now,” cried the apostle, “is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation,” — meaning, not that now men must prepare for a future-world salvation, or safety, but that now is the time in which to experience that salvation in spirit and in life” (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 39).
Wait no more! Death is not the gateway to eternal life and its blessings. Truth is the open door that reveals our perfect life with God. God is Life. And it’s a door we can walk through now. Not through dying, but through living. Through living the Life Jesus has outlined before us.
Live Life now!
