Look for the blessing

April 9, 2015 | 13 comments

“With everything that has happened to you, you can either feel sorry for yourself or treat what has appeared as a gift. Everything is either an opportunity to grow or an obstacle to keep you from growing. You get to choose.”

~ Wayne Dyer

When evil things happen to us, the event does not look like a gift, but a barrier. But with every challenge to our success there is a spiritual lesson to be learned that takes us beyond that challenge to a greater demonstration of spiritual reality. Seek out that lesson! Look for the good that is beckoning to be understood and that enables you to overcome the challenge at hand and leave it behind for something better. There is a blessing to be gained.

  1. That is the correct perspective on challenges. Often when I am challenged I see it as a judgement on how well and sincere I have been working.;a hanger on of an old mentality. If everything begins with the Truth there is nothing that needs fixing or working on. I work to lift the fog and to consciously realize the glory of God that already is.

  2. Thanks! The fields are white and ready for harvest. We get plenty of opportunities to prove that we can pull down the barriers and see the good lesson hiding behind them.

  3. I would welcome some insight on this.
My husband has built up a good business on our small little island and is respected in our community. A man moves here from across the country with hopes of starting a business like my husbands. The new man in town proceeds to say negative, untrue words about my husband and happens to spew these lies to a friend/client.
I allow myself to get so thrown off by people like this. I feel it as stress and don’t like it.
This beautiful message comes to me this morning and I welcome it.
I feel God’s love but I still get so agitated.

    Thank you for any insight.

    1. Hi Susan,
Just remember that God’s law of love is always in operation. I love to know that if it isn’t of God, then it can’t last. You might like to read or listen to “God’s Law of Adjustment” by Adam Dickey. It has some powerful reminders of who’s in charge. There is indeed a blessing in this. Rest in His love for you and your husband.
      Much love,
      Jan

      1. Thank you for sharing loving words. I found God’s Law of Adjustment and am filled with gratitude. Having read it slowly twice, I shared it with my husband when he came home for lunch.
With tears of gratitude to you Jan.
        Love,
        Susan

  4. When an error seems to take the space where good should be, it’s only a ruse to make one believe that an error really took place. That’s called the big red dragon which is described in the last chapter of the New Testament. There is a blessing in that last chapter where the big red dragon takes it’s last breath and is never heard again. That’s our true goal, the blessing of good only and evil as an illusive belief.

  5. Thank you, Evan, for this! Although Wayne Dyer is a Beautiful Teacher and has given so much wisdom to spiritual seekers, he hasn’t yet reached the understanding that Christian Science brings to thought and that results in physical healing. So many “New Age” teachings out there today that seem so like Christian Science, and yet…..we need to be careful to not get caught up in a thought that doesn’t really acknowledge and understand Christ Jesus’ method of Healing, which is what Christian Science follows and proves!

  6. Thank you for this quote and comment, Evan. Susan, Science and Health says, “Your good will be evil spoken of. This is the cross; take it up and bear it, for by it, you win and wear the crown.” Certainly one crown to gain from this experience is to know that good comes directly to you and your family from God. No one can take it away from you. It is yours. The voice of error has not the power of divine Love. Keep listening to Love and trusting Love to reflect its good to you. “Love is reflected in love” is the interpretation of “Forgive us our debts as we forgive our debtors” in the Lord’s prayer. Keep your eyes on what Love is doing and you will wear the crown.

  7. Thank you to Jan of Grass Valley, for the comment above about “if it isn’t of God, it can’t last”. I found that a very helpful idea today, giving me new hope for challenging situations that seem to have gone on too long, but which can’t last forever.
