What we are able to do in that regard, loving others, surrounds us with that same love we give.
being a living g example in my work place as a security guard at a construction site, by telling jokes and by having meaningful conversations with my co-workers, I think raises tge bar a bit. reduces the grumpiness factor and lightness the load s bit. my joy is on managing to make my cohorts laugh. get a smile on. someone’s face who seems to be too serious at times

the CS Hymnal:
” Love one another – word of revelation; Love frees from error’s thrall -Love is liberation.

Love knows no evil, neither shade of sadness; Love casts out every fear, lifts the heart to gladness.

A very simple way that I have found of expressing love is to smile at people. -When passing someone on the street, a smile and a thankyou to your server, a sweet loving look at a child, a kind word to someone experiencing grief and loss. There are many ways to share God’s love and a sincere smile is one of the easiest!
Yes, Shirley–I’ve been making it a habit to thank those dear ones who we sometimes take for granted–the grocery store cashier, the drive-thru folks, I not only thank them but let them know how very important they are and how grateful I am for their being there to serve. It’s wonderful to see how their face just lights up and that warms my heart!

I find the word “love” to be rather nonspecific in what it entails so I substitute “care for”. For example the Good Samaritan cared for the man in distress and as in 1John4:7
Beloved let us care for one another. For caring for eachother is born of God… for God is caring.
And “Care for your neighbor as you care for yourself”

This is what is said about love in I Corinthians. 13.
If I speak in the tongues of men or of angels, but do not have love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and give over my body to hardship that I may boast, but do not have love, I gain nothing. Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
