Loving your enemies

September 9, 2015 | 10 comments

Do you have any enemies, someone giving you grief, a person you’d like to love more but don’t know where to begin?

I wrote an article addressing these very issues, and how you can choose to love your enemies through divine Love until they are no longer your enemies.

It was published in the Christian Science Sentinel, on August 10, 2015. Here’s a link.

“The choice to love”

  1. “Love triumphs over the worst evil, even the belief of death, and always has the final say.”

Beautiful and powerful article, Evan, thank you so much!

  2. First in answer to Anita; You don’t have to have a subscription to The Sentinel to read Evan’s article. You can visit a C/S Reading Room. If you can’t do that have a friend bring over a copy.

Second; If you can not convince a person, stop and pray for that person’s receptivity. This will help rid mortal mind belief of selfhood. I’ve done this many times and it works. An enemy is caused by wrong thinking. Oh! would that do to heal destructive thinking such as ISIS.

  3. Thanks, Evan, for that Article! For those of us who are still struggling with “self will, self justification and self love”…..I have found a Prayer called, “Detaching with Love” that helps me to separate myself from the personal ego issues between me and another person and to put them in God’s hands and Let Him/Her commune with them. Sometimes I’ve found that my being too close to the person in my thought, wanting them to change, etc. actually acts as a block to them and their relationship with God (and mine, too!) So, I Pray: “I Love You, I Bless You and I Release You to your own Indwelling Presence of God.” Then I turn it over to God and feel much freer now that I have Detached with Love! Knowing that God, Divine Love, is working with me and with them is such a Healing Feeling! What cannot God do?

  4. Thank you Evan, for these wonderful ideas and for the reminder that we could take another look at you article in August 10 Sentinel. I still had my Sentinel and was so grateful to read your article again.
I have the tools, now I must make good use of them in my daily practice of this wonderful Science.

  5. Infinite Love! I humbly pray that God opens my eyes to this glorious presence in the world, or should I say the presence of Love is the only “world” there is in which to live, move, and have our being. I’m very grateful!
