Make the most of every moment

March 2, 2023 | 24 comments

Success in life depends upon persistent effort, upon the improvement of moments more than upon any other one thing. A great amount of time is consumed in talking nothing, doing nothing, and indecision as to what one should do. If one would be successful in the future, let him make the most of the present.

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Miscellaneous Writings, p. 230

  1. Thank you Evan. One needs to be very carefull, never postponing challenges, no matter how little they seam to be, rather getting things right in thought, before moving on.

  2. Because time is measure by the good that is unfolded, then each moment has a blessing..
Yesterday I climbed a snow covered mountain and it felt like I saw a new touch a spring with every bend in the trail..the wildflowers were starting to emerge.

    1. Pictured the scene, mentally remembering California mountains winter from a time past when I was present there. Hope the wind was calm as you observed the hints of change of seasons… . . breezes and all

  3. The picture with a wonderful view from the window is being seen from an elevated position.
This person is appreciating all the beauty she is seeing. So we need to be viewing everything from
a mountain-top height in our thoughts, so that we can appreciate the beautiful spiritual
view that God is manifesting from our spiritually tuned-in consciousness. We can be appreciating all
the beauty, goodness and harmony of God’s spiritual creation seen in ourselves, our fellow man
and creatures. We have within us the ability to reflect all the goodness and harmony of the Lord every moment, and at all times, as we let God’s glory shine out from us to bring more light into the world
    which seems so dark sometimes.

  4. This got my attention in the quote above, “talking nothing, doing nothing and indecision as to what one should do.” I probably still spend too much time engaged in that type of activity- like browsing the internet reading about “interesting” but actually unimportant things, idle chit chat with people which is not meaningful, or letting thought go in unproductive directions. Thanks for redirecting us back to the importance of making each present moment more meaningful and spiritually uplifting. The moment, the eternal moment is filled with God’s good, if we have eyes to see it, and we do.

    1. I have a vista of beauty from my windows.. and Mind lives with its understanding of Perfection.. the Doing else-wise than being in the moment.. to “see” aligns with all the healings happening out from within within and circumnavigating from the centre .. the wholeness of the Divine Universe
      it’s Spiritual Atmosphere..God is Good
      Infinite Confidence..riding above the clouds

My communtitee of friends have no reference of Christian Science so that’s how this Spiritview is very dear. Thanks for your comments, Rose

  5. Yes, NOW is really all we have and in realizing God’s Being, is very rewarding.
I used to spend hours on the phone talking to a friend who would call to
procrastinate from going to work. During the pandemic, she abruptly cut off
our friendship because her views differed from mine. It was endless chatter
    about nothing.
Turning to the Now gives us the opportunity to see through the divine lens of
Spirit … demonstrate expression of creativity through Soul … connect with
Mind’s unity in Truth, seeing the world in a better light … Principle, in trying
to understand and do what is right in the image of Life … and Love, the
True caring and sharing that genuinely gives purpose to it all.

    1. Carol I see that we posted our comments at the same exact time 6:49am, and our thought was along similar lines, an example of the One Mind in action. So cool. All the best!

      1. I love when things like that happens, Rose! So often, I open up
SpiritView and see the photo and read the message and it is
almost like Evan and the wonderful person who picks out the
corresponding photos, has heard what I had been thinking.
        One Mind ~ Love it! : )

        1. This happens with me too and I always realize it is the one Mind at work and smile in amazement, I shouldn’t be amazed as it is just more natural proof of God with us. ‘Jane

    1. Thank you, J, for another outstanding article!! This one really drove Evan’s , MBE’s, message home for me

  6. Now is the accepted time, now is the day of blessings and healing. So in that sense we read in the Bible I think it was, in which we can realize God’s being, God’s presents, as Carol says so rightly.
Sometimes I cannot else but sitting quietly on my couch. It can be a peaceful moment with God. But my most important duty I see in studying the lesson sermon. And then I”ll listen what to do best.
Thank you very much Evan for this utmost beautiful foto. On such a wonderful work place I would feel very uplifted and ready for inspirational ideas – I would feel heavenly.
    A beautiful day to all!♡

    1. “now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped. Don’t put it off; ”
2 Cor 6 from The Message. Love it.

    2. “now is the right time to listen, the day to be helped. Don’t put it off; ”
2 Cor 6 from The Message.
Wishing you a beautiful day, too, Uta!

      1. Yes, thank you very much, Cristine, for your loving wish and for the Bible Verse! That’s just such a wonderful and true and comforting verse!♡

  7. Rose and Carol, – thank you for your insights. You are right, it is so tempting to engage in
trifles and procrastination, and I think it must come to most of us. The temptation to talk
too much and about nothing in particular does seem to end up in either disagreements, or is unsatisfying. For a while I haven’t been able to engage in any idle chatter, since I have a rather profound belief of deafness at present. It is interesting though that life becomes much more harmonious when you are not tempted to just talk for the sake of talking. If people are having to write down things for you as part of a conversation, I am finding I am more selective in what I say or ask so as not to inconvenience people too much. I find people much more loving and generous
and patient also therefore I am seeing people in a new light. I am engaged in making the most
of my moments and keeping my spiritual understanding on the mountaintop.

  8. Dearest Maggie, -Yes, what a blessing that we can rise to, and stay on the mountaintop of spiritual understanding, beyond the distortions and limitations of mortal mind beliefs, where we behold the true perfection and permanence of man’s being, and the indestructible nature of man’s faculties as the embodiments of divine Mind. We live and move, hear and see, in the kingdom of heaven,- and just a glimpse of this heavenly atmosphere of Truth is a potent healing influence in our human experience.

Mary Baker Eddy writes in Science and Health, “Sight, hearing, all the spiritual senses of man, are eternal. They cannot be lost. Their reality and immortality are in Spirit and understanding, not in matter,– hence their permanence…….. “Lost they cannot be, while Mind remains. The apprehension of this gave sight to the blind and hearing to the deaf centuries ago, and it will repeat the wonder.”

    1. So very true and uplifting and comforting!
Thank you very much dear Linda!♡

I am very thankful for this lovely SpiritView family, helping each other in Love!♡

  9. The picture makes me grateful for the beautiful view out my window of the snow-covered Trinity Alps. and for the time I have for spiritual study. I have a dear friend who wants to talk a lot and I have to be diligent about Planning when to call or visit her because she tends to keep the conversation going. I spend much of the time mentally refuting the things she talks about (her ills and Problems) She is not CS and. I ask her not to go into details but she seems to have the need. I can only love her and do for her what I can. I am so grateful to have CS to live by and for all the helpful blogs and vlogs you give us Evan. And all the wonderful insights of this Spirit View family.

  10. I love this. Yesterday is in the past. Tomorrow has not happened. This moment is all there is❤️

  11. In response to Jane B from CA
Seems that I found friends that would go over things often that did not agree with my ways of thinking. It was much gossip and not things shared that were uplifting.. I was led to break up the communication by realizing it did not promote any well being but was just mortal mind having a hay day! Still in touch but let them know that I was not open to lengthy talks as they often did not promote good will. I have found that it broke the spell and feel it was helpful for my friends too@
