No missing out with God

July 24, 2023 | 14 comments

If you’re ever afraid of missing out on something good, you can let go of that fear! All good is of God, and eternally ours.

Material things come and go. Worldly events come and go. Human relationships are temporal. But true good, the kind that lasts forever, the kind that is truly important, is spiritual and is always ours to enjoy. Forever!

Have no fear of missing out. Anything and everything that is truly good is yours to experience at the right moment. It’s inevitable.

As Jesus Christ said, “Don’t be afraid of missing out. You’re my dearest friends! The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself” (Luke 12:32, The Message).

God’s Kingdom is yours to enjoy. You won’t miss out. You can’t. God’s good is your birthright, your heritage, your divine place to be. It’s God’s gift to you. Guaranteed!

  1. Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
    Mark 11:24

    The Armor of God
10 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.
12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,
15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.
17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
18 And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.

    1. Where can I find the verses that you have included in your comments? Titled “The Armor of God”.

  2. Thanks Evan sir for your inspiring and spiritual Truths . Daily reminder to follow these Truths.

  3. Such wisdom and compassion. Thank you so much Evan. Sometimes
the belief does come of missing out and it can seem depressing
and a feeling of being alone. It is good to remember that God/Love is
always with us in these darker times. Sometimes it is good to have a
gentle reminder that Love is there each of these times. ..Your words
    are very inspiring.
The photo reminds me of when a child, I would pretend to be a bird in
the tall grasses and pretend to fly. It always gave a feeling of heavenly
freedom, rising above the mortal and in to the divine. Childlike thoughts
without limitations are so cherished, especially with the many challenges
    the world presents these days.

  4. I had a good experience of this yesterday for which I’m very grateful.

I was on my way to an outdoor, rooftop yoga class I’d been looking forward to, but due to my schedule I rarely had the opportunity to attend. At the train station I discovered that due to necessary track work I had to ride in the opposite direction of my destination for many stops, then transfer to a train going the right way. This seemed certain to add an extra half hour or so to my traveling and would make me too late to be admitted to the class. At first I was disappointed I would “miss out” and upset with myself for not checking the train info online before leaving home and for not leaving the house earlier. But I started tuning in to some higher truths and started to feel very happy and free. I realized I was overly attached to “my” idea of how the day should go, I noticed the self will and human outlining. I realized God has His own wonderful plan for my day off exploring my city, whether or not it included that class and I didn’t need to hold on to the idea that things had to go a certain way for it to be a good day. I was certain He would put me where I needed to be and when. I just continued the trip, reading a CS article, quietly blessing the people around me on the train, appreciating every moment, unattached to outcomes.

I did arrive at the studio about 15-20 min late. After initially saying I was too late to join the class, the front desk attendant escorted me up to the roof, the teacher kindly welcomed me in and we had a lovely class, which ended up running about 20 min longer than usual so I did not “miss out” on any class time. The rest of my day in the city was quite joyous and spontaneous.

Even though this is a ‘small thing,” it demonstrates larger principles about letting go of fixed ideas, trusting God and experiencing the beauty of each moment.

Thank you Evan, and great comments everyone! I recently heard a family member refer to a friend that has FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out). This was making the friend feel anxious and depressed. FOMO is described as “the feeling of apprehension that one is either not in the know about or missing out on information, events, experiences, or life decisions that could make one’s life better.” How fortunate that Christian Science gives a totally different view.

  6. “God-inspired connections” by Jan K. Keeler:

(If you can’t open this article, here’s the key points:)

WE ARE ONE: The Bible says, “Have we not all one father? hath not one God created us?” (Malachi 2:10). Because God, Spirit, is the only creator of all being, His universe is that of Spirit, and His creation is spiritual. Each of us, as His individual, spiritual idea is a child of our Father-Mother God. By the nature of Spirit’s allness, we are one with Him and with one another in Him.

I realized that our inherent oneness meant that I couldn’t be divided, separated, or disconnected from God or from what He created. Regardless of our human circumstances, no economy, politics, luck, prejudices, biases, or limitations – related to our age, upbringing, or our set of contacts – could keep us from God’s infinite allness. It was reassuring to know that because we are of one family, with one heart and one purpose, we are united in just the right way. I felt confident that I would find my future roommate through this prayer.

GOD INFORMS US: God, omniscient Mind, is actively making known all information that needs to be known and communicated throughout His entire universe. Mary Baker Eddy, the discoverer of Christian Science, writes, “Wisely governing, informing the universe, this Mind is Truth, – not laws of matter” (“Miscellaneous Writings 1883-1896,” p. 332). She also explains that the information we need doesn’t come from what we sense materially around us, but from what we comprehend spiritually. She writes, “The intercommunication is always from God to His idea, man” (“Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures,” p. 284). From this fundamental premise, we can begin to grasp and rely on God, Spirit, to inform us of what is needed in our lives. I could trust that He would lead me to do what is right and communicate to me what I needed to know.

GOD HOLDS US TOGETHER: God, intelligent, infinite Mind, is holding together what belongs together, and separates from us what doesn’t belong to us. Mrs. Eddy states, “Adhesion, cohesion, and attraction are properties of Mind” (Science and Health, p. 124). Because unlimited Mind is the force keeping all ideas together, I didn’t need to worry that I wouldn’t be at the right place at the right time. As I prayed with these spiritual truths, I gained more confidence that God would reveal a solution to me.

  7. Thank you dear Love, Rose and J … Helpful thoughts and articles to
compliment Evan’s inspiring post. Much appreciated.

  8. Thank you very much dear Evan for today’s SpiritView ! “All Good is of God, and is eternally ours.” Wonderful and very comforting! I love the message from Luke 12:32 where it says “The Father wants to give you the very kingdom itself.”
I remember Evan saying in his lectures “the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” At that time I found it nice how Evan said that and he showed his hand saying “it’s pretty firm attached to the arm and body. I didn’t think deeper then. But today I became aware that Evan probably meant that we are thus unshakingly and firm connected to our Father’s divine kingdom ! To understand the spiritual interpretation Evan wants to give us with that makes me happy! Thanks a lot, Evan!!! ♡

Thank you so much dear “J” for the articles. Till now I read the Monitor article. It’s very helpful and inspiring like all the articles you surched for us very lovingly! ♡

    1. Thank you dear Uta for all of your wonderful comments! And thank you for mentioning Evan’s comment in his lecture that “the kingdom of heaven is at hand” and the visual that gives – it’s very helpful. 🙂

  9. Thank you all for your good words , thank you Evan
To reassure us with the Truth in many situations where
Doubts want to take over. In some cases I was debating and conflicting to stay home or go out. True in some case when I stayed home , I was doubting of my decision.
So like Evan says in the intro, we can always pray for ourself, for the world, and not waisting time and see the greatness
    Of God and His/Her Presence.
Eddy says in her book, it comes a time when your best friends
Are not around, you are by yourself, so it’s time to demonstrate
Our relationship with God,Spirit and its infinite inspiration we need at that moment.thank you all!
