No need for stress

May 16, 2022 | 26 comments

If you’re ever tempted to get stressed out when facing a major problem, you can dissolve that stress by remembering that the all-knowing, all-wise Mind is present to solve the problem.

A problem is not a call to get stressed out. It’s a call to pray, to listen, hear and discern a spiritual solution.

The Mind of God is always present to inspire you with the perfect idea that brings resolution to the problem you face. A key to success, is to stay calm, humble, and listen for divine direction.

Stress is fear. It’s a belief that evil has power to harm us. It’s spiritual forgetfulness.

Instead of indulging fear, love God more. Honor God’s presence. Remember God’s ability to make good things happen. Listen for God’s direction. It will come.

With God, there is no stress. There is a continuous stream of inspiration and helpful ideas that solve problems and keep you moving down a progressive path of ever-unfolding good.

There is no need for stress. It’s not necessary or imperative. Choose to live in a consciousness of God’s allness instead.

Live stress-free and enjoy life.

  1. This is such perfect timing Evan!!! Thank you so much! This article is an answer to prayer. Thank you, thank you, thank you! There is hope.

  2. Stress is a fear of the future, Peace is the present and infinite Love of God, now and now and now…

  3. I love this “A problem is not a call to get stressed out. It’s a call to pray, to listen, hear and discern a spiritual solution.” What a great way to see a problem. This gives it a positive reason for existing in the first place. It brings us straight to where we need to be, in the spiritual immortal realm not the mortal. I needed this tonight, Thank you Evan. and thanks to all the spiritviewers that write helpful comments. xx

  4. Thanks so much Evans for this beautiful article. Be blessed always and am forever grateful for your tremendous work

  5. An acronym for stress I have composed and found helpful to use when stress wants to take away my harmony is Seeing Truth Realized Everyday Strengthening Spirituality. The acronym focuses my thought on God and off of whatever the problem appears to be causing stress to see God, Truth loves and cares for me, I am strengthened by realizing my spiritual identity and the stress turns to calm joy.

    1. Like the acronym for stress. I am listening to the birds singing away this morning and thinking how they welcome each day with their cheerful sounds and of course so do we as listen to God guiding us.

    2. The acronym is a perfect way to affirm the non existence of stress and confirm the reality and the ever existence of Divine Love! Thanks for bringing this to light!

    3. Thanks SO MUCH for this acronym for “stress” Katie….it definitely turn to “calm joy”!

    4. Your acronym helps instantly, as the physical focus is on ‘decline’ when all I can do is EXPRESS growth and strength spiritually, evidenced by action. When thought lands and remains focused on strengthening spirtually, what appears is gratitude to God for all his gifts.

  6. Perfect!! Love the idea that stress is spiritual forgetfulness…. that really speaks to me. Thank you!

  7. Thank you Evan! I’m so grateful for your daily blog. Today’s message is so very needed…just like a change of my thought is needed!

  8. Adding my thanks too! It is just what I needed to address the seeming challenge of today, but I am not going to get caught in that stress. Thanks Ken also for your contribution, so helpful.

  9. This is a perfect thought for today Evan! Thank you for the reminder to keep an uplifted spiritual consciousness throughout our day.

  10. Although I didn’t grow up in Christian Science, my family was extremely positive, using such mantras & syllogisms as “Problems are opportunities!” Since finding & embracing Christian Science, I’ve loved the vastly rich & expansive concept Mary Baker Eddy brought forth, and your many wonderful reminders continually to bless us! Todays blog is especially rich with such blessings in a “…continuous stream of inspiration…” I am SO VERY GRATEFUL to have Christian Science as my guiding Light.
    Love to everyone ❤️❤️❤️❤️

    1. Hi Annie. I also did not grow up in Christian Science. It is wonderful that your family taught you to look at things in such a positive light, mine… not so much. But it’s ok because by learning more and more about God and CS, I can begin to see all things, even the past, in a new spiritual light, which can be very healing. I too loved Evan’s statement about God’s “continuous stream of inspiration and helpful ideas.”

Stress is fear of an alleged power apart from God that claims it can harm His child. It would try to trick us into fearing the future. I enjoyed this quote from an article written by clergyman for his congregation as the year 2000 approached and people were apprehensive of what the new millennium would bring. He said, “We don’t know what the future holds, but we know Who holds the future.” Sending Love and good wishes to all.

  11. Thank you for the very clear spiritual truths you expressed in your blog today Evan!

Problem solving, as we learn in Christian Science, takes place in thought as “error” is replaced with “truth”. Once that is done, the truth in our thought manifests itself in whatever form is needed to resolve problems to human comprehension.

This morning I was led to start reading again the “platform” of Christian Science that starts on page 330 of Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. You can access it via the link below. I only made it through the first three “planks” of the platform since it is so packed with ideas and I wanted to give time praying with each of the ideas. For example, it was so comforting to be reminded that God is infinite…meaning there is nothing but God. God is Life, Truth, Love. I like to think of that as meaning God is self-existent Life (there is no other power, presence, or mind), which results in all harmonious Truth, which is governed by the Science of Love. There is no room in that trinity for evil or error of any form, claim, or belief. Therefore, what comes to us as suggestions of discord, such as stress, we can recognize as lies (error) and dismiss them from thought by replacing the lie with the truth. We are all the manifestation of eternal Life that is never ending. We reflect infinite Truth that does not leave any space for discord (e.g. stress, disease, resentment, conflict, etc.). And we live “in Science” and therefore are cared for and loved so much by our Father-Mother Love. Happy Day everyone as you experience the joy of the trinity today (and every day)!

  12. Many thanks. Probably the best exercise I can do is listening. God’s angel thoughts relieve stress.

  13. Thank you Evan, Angie and RH for these very timely reminders that lack of time cannot take away our joy and peace. This also came at the perfect ‘time ‘ for me.

  14. Thank you Evan. I recently had to return to the office and was feeling burdened and stressed with a long commute. As I walked along the office grounds and saw hundreds of beautiful tulips, nature hinted at spiritual reality. Each tulip was effortlessly and obediently turned toward the sun. This was an inspiring reminder to me to not get distracted by feelings of stress or anxiety, and to keep my thoughts as focused on God, as the tulips were on the sun. Sun: The symbol of Soul governing man, – of Truth, Life, and Love. (Science & Health, p. 595)
