Open your eyes to reality

February 20, 2020 | 40 comments

While traveling through the Yukon, in Canada, last September, Kathy and I were fortunate to see the Northern Lights in all their spectacular glory. It was a bucket list item for Kathy, and I can see why.

I couldn’t help but video some spiritual inspiration I gained that memorable night, which I share on this vlog. While everyone else was sleeping in their campers, we were outside taking in the view. I wondered, “How many times in life are their amazing views of God’s abundance to take in, but we’re unaware of the abundance at hand because we’re asleep? It pays to be awake when it really counts!

  1. Thank you very very much, Evan, for this utmost important reminder for opening up our eyes to s e e God`s reallity, to the spiritual reallity, yea to the realm of God, where all good and lovely things are possble. We can also pray with the Bible verse “open Thou mine eyes, that I may s e e the wonders of Your law.” Yes, the spiritual Law, which is the only Law there is operating!
Thank you very much, Kathy for sharing with us your precious and awsome video of the northern light. I know it is your great hobby filming and fotographing, as I remember! So wonderful!
Thank God that I have all the qualities and equipments, to participate in this great SpiritView blog together with all commenters and friends. This is food for today, to open mine eyes for all God`s Goodness for us all!

  2. I agree with Uta. This video is awesome, not only for the amazing pictures of the Northern Lights but also for the message to wake up from our limited views of reality, of limited health, joy, supply etc and see how God created them in the first place. I will be dwelling on this today! Thanks Evan.

    1. Thanks so much ! Visuals are so wonderful in helping people to get closer to God. I really appreciate the love and dedication you and kathy put into these videos that are inspiriting, and healing a world crying out for the freedoms of Truth.

  3. Applause, applause. Great message, beautiful photography. Life in Spirit! What a grand journey. Thanks Evan and Kathy. There is so much awaiting our discovery. I love the definition of “eyes” in Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy: (p. 587)
“Spiritual discernment, –not material but mental.” Open mine eyes, Father!

  4. Thank you for the thoughts of being open to all the good that God has given us, to what is constantly available if we look.So often we are not ready and don’t have our eyes open to what is already there. Love the northern lights video. Thanks for sharing

  5. Another amazing (as in grace!) sharing, Evan, thank you! The video is beautiful and the insights inspiring. I’ll take this message with me to “open my eyes” to God’s infinite wonder and glory right here, right now. Ever thanks for all your healing work in so many ways!

  6. I tried to attach the Hymn, Open my eyes that I
    my see
    Go to YouTube
    Beautiful words and melody
Sorry I was unable to attach, but if you listen to the words you will want to attach them to thought
like Evan suggested we need to do.
    Happy seeing.

    1. Is this the hymn you refer to M?

OPEN MY EYES, THAT I MAY SEE

Open my eyes, that I may see
      Glimpses of truth Thou hast for me;
Place in my hands the wonderful key
That shall unclasp and set me free.

      Refrain:
Silently now I wait for Thee,
Ready my God, Thy will to see,
      Open my eyes, illumine me,
      Spirit divine!

Open my ears, that I may hear
      Voices of truth Thou sendest clear;
And while the wave-notes fall on my ear,
      Everything false will disappear.

      Refrain…………..

Open my mouth, and let me bear
      Gladly the warm truth everywhere;
Open my heart and let me prepare
Love with Thy children thus to share.

      Refrain………….

      1. Looking again, I think it must be this one:

“Lord, … open his eyes, that he may see,”
        The mighty prophet prayed.
Send not armies great and strong,
        Neither strength to battle wrong,
But lift his vision to behold
        Your truth already here,
        The legions of omnipotence,
        The hosts of Your deliverance.
        Awake, O man, and know
        Love’s all-embracing sphere.

Lord, open my eyes that I may see
        Your presence everywhere,
My dwelling circled by Your might,
        My mountaintop aflame with light,
The shining sentinels of Your love
        Triumphant in this hour.
For You with me are greater far
Than all the seeming evils are.
Be still, O heart, and trust
        God’s omnipresent power.

        (Hymn. 527:1-2)

      2. Thank you Maggie. Fits so well with today’s SpiritView. I just ran across my copy of this yesterday! It is so inspiring and comforting. Love these phrases “the wonderful key” i.e. Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, “the wave-notes fall on my ear” so poetic!, and the “warm truth” so comforting. (=

  7. Loved this in every sense of the word. And speaking of word, it’s “there”, not “their”.
    Thanks so much!

  8. What a delightfully, heavenly video ~ Thank you! I remember one time coming out of a grocery store and seeing a wonderful rainbow. Like the folks in the parking lot, many were asleep to the awe and beauty of it and went about their way not even noticing. But some stopped in their tracks and soaked in nature’s wonder, sharing it’s grandeur. Love surrounds us all of the time. We need to keep our eyes and heart open to it’s blessings, as even within the mundane or seeming inharmony, Love is there.

  9. Yes Maggie those were the words in the first Maggie
    comment.
Going to YouTube and listening to the melody keeps
    the word in thought.
But thanks for sending the words ❤️

    1. Thank you Paul for the link. If you look on the right side of the video it lists several more renditions of the hymn. The more you view the more that comes up. I like the British fellows video on a theater organ. A little different take. (=

  10. Thanks so much for sharing this representation of God’s infinite glory! And for the reminder to keep our eyes open to reality. I loved The Message version of Psalms 105:4 that you shared at the end:

Psalms 105:4 KJV Seek the Lord, and his strength: seek his face evermore.
The Message: Keep your eyes open for God. Be alert for signs of His presence.

A friend once shared with me what her teacher, Naomi Price, used to say. “We don’t see because we have eyes. We have eyes because we ‘see!'”

  11. As I was listening to and watching this wonderful Vlog, my heart was singing: “Open now (my) eyes to see, as the clouds of sense are riven. We behold reality, know the glory of the heaven…..” from Hymn # 85: (God of Truth, eternal good, lift our hearts to revelation”, it starts out.) Yes, “the loveliness of Love IS all around”! (Hymn 64)!!!
Knowing this, we can choose to stop at any moment and allow that spaciousness of thought to see (feel), experience the beauty of God’s presence, lovingkindness and abundance for all. That’s
REALITY! Thank you Evan and Kathy for the in-Spirit-ation.

  12. I love this as a reminder to see also the beauty and grandeur within us, according to Jesus’ second commandment, to love our neighbor as ourselves.

  13. Wonderful photography Kathy and all the comments so
Helpful…especially the hymns mentioned. Hymn 527 very
Apt for the blockades in Canada at this moment.
Thank you all for your prayers and comments. ..and Evan
    For his inspiration.

  14. Thank you Evan and Kathy. Seeing the Northern Lights is also on my bucket list. That is wonderful that you were “awake” and able to see them. Thanks so much for sharing the video with us and the wonderful message about seeing spiritually all the good around us all the time…because God is round about us all the time! (=

  15. this reminds me of often we think there is no time to look. I am always noticing how
our sense of time is so arbitrary. There is always more time to tune in.

  16. This reminds me of the poem by William Henry Davis which begins:
What is this life if full of care
We have no time to stand and stare……..

  17. Thank you Evan and Kathy for sharing a great lesson of spiritual vision and reality!
And thank you all for your comments…

  18. Love to Everyone♡

I wonder if all of us were to think about what “bucket list” actually refers to, if we wouldn’t immediately want to take it out of our thoughts and conversations? A “bucket list” is a list of activities one wants to accomplish before they “kick the bucket” i.e. before they die.

We could replace this mortal view with a “SpiritView” that sees and expects all good eternally with no anticipated ‘dead’ line; knowing that divine Love has infinite opportunities of joy ready to show us thst we may experience every moment!

    1. Good suggestion SingJoy! I hadn’t thought of it that way. I will definitely remove “bucket list” from my vocabulary. So I’ll say instead “Seeing the Northern Lights is something I look forward with joy to do someday.”
      Thanks for the insight! (=

  19. Thanks for the golden nuggets of inspiration and insight for the listeners, as usual. What an adventure you are having, in many way’s!!!!!!

  20. Wow, this was an amazing find! New subscriber and I have to say, this man’s spiritual approach to everything is so inspiring to me! I am so glad I found this.
