Permanent vs. temporary

July 1, 2011 | 8 comments

Sometimes it’s tempting to get depressed, discouraged or despondent about a less than ideal picture of lack or loss before us. But it’s important to remember that no material picture is permanent. All material pictures are temporary, in a state of flux, and they improve or degrade according to the human beliefs supporting them. As the governing thought is spiritualized and improved, the picture improves.

So, don’t get focused or mesmerized by “the picture.” Stay focused on spiritual truth. Understand God better, and the picture will improve.

Only God’s good is permanent. Anything less is as a passing shadow in the night.

  1. How does one stay focused on spiritual truth when the physical problem is so great? I have had such a hard time since March dealing with this physical problem that at times the fear takes over and I can’t get my thought focused on God. I feel so discouraged.

  2. To above,

The spiritual truth is even greater! A physical condition cannot grip your thought. It does not control your thinking. You are a free moral spiritual thinker capable of agreeing with truth over error. God gave you this dominion and enbales you to demonstrate it too!

  3. I loved the following letter from the Daily Lift that I just read, I wanted to share it here!

“Thank you, Lorenzo (Rodriguez. CSB)! So wonderful that in Christian Science it is the Truth that heals. It’s not what we know that heals, it’s our unwaivering faith in the Truth that heals! And the Truth is that God is All! Therefore whatever presents itself to our consciousness that isn’t true or God’s word, has no power, unless we choose to give it power. God is the only Power and we have the courage, discipline and faith to understand and take a stand for this Truth! Happy 4th of July weekend to All, accepting the “glorious liberty of the children of God” and celebrating our freedom! Whaoo!!!”

This lifted me up (I neeeded it!). Hope you too, Anonymous at 7:32 this morning.

God’s love is as omnipresent as the air. Let’s breeeeaaaaathhe it in, folks! And celebrate freedom!

    Thanks so much, Evan.

    Love,
    Sue

  4. Thanks, Evan. Today marks a huge change in laws in the state of Indiana in education. Schools, teachers, and administrators are concerned about what appears to be loss or lack of say. This message is perfect today.

  5. This simple blog calms my niggling doubts and fears about many subjects today. So I am convinced that its truth, plus the answers shared by Evan and Sue (quoting the comment on Lorenzo’s Daily Lift) can wipe away the temporary doubts and fears of our dear friend Anonymous (above). There is only one permanent power, Love. And not a single one of us, the children of Love, can be fooled, now or ever, to believe otherwise. We are safe in Love.
