Practice seeing what God sees

March 16, 2021 | 35 comments

If you’re ever tempted to talk yourself down or believe you’re not worthy of good things happening, practice seeing what God sees.

God sees all the good in you, and only good! And there is a huge amount of good to see!

God did not create you bad. God created you good.

If you are honest, and took a few moments to list out some good qualities you express and can express, you would find much to rejoice over.

The inclination to think negatively about oneself is a form of mental malpractice that doesn’t belong to a child of God. It would cover up our good and keep others from seeing it too.

Don’t let your goodness become the victim of malpractice! Recognize the goodness present. Rejoice in it. Let it shine!

You are a child of God, the offspring of infinite goodness.

Anything that is not good, or infers something bad, is not part of your divine individuality. It is mortal mind talking to itself about its own limited view of you and your goodness. Don’t participate in the dialogue. It is not a conversation a child of God is having with God. God has only good things to see and say about you!

Converse with God rather than with mortal mind to know the truth about your identity.

See what God sees. Rejoice in what God sees. Be what God sees. It is all good, and not one iota less.

You are all good!

  1. Thank you for this message. Sometime ago I wrote a letter to myself about all the good that I express. It was to me from God. When I finished, I was very surprised at all the good qualities I expressed and the things I had accomplished in my life.

    1. Yes, definitely, And it makes a big difference in relationships to see others as God sees us all. I remember hearing the speaker say at a talk on Christian Science: “God didn’t make any junk!”. She went to to say about her son who was having trouble in school: “He’s God’s boy!” And of course, her daughters were God’s girls. Her son made progress in all needed ways, and came out of his problems successfully. It was a powerful idea, well expressed. and has stayed with me for many years.

  2. All Good! Even recognizing “God didn’t make junk.” – the
denial of unreality! All Good “. . . for God is All-in-all.”
Thanks for these fresh ideas everyone !

  3. One of the commandments says we should love our neighbor As ourself. It doesn’t say More than ourself or Less than ourself but As ourself. In keeping with this Principle, we are also keeping the First commandment of having no other God’s,
which to me, includes seeing ourself as anything but a perfect reflection of this Life, Truth, Mind, Soul, Spirit and Love.

  4. Right on, Evan. I specifically like that you brought out that it is malpractice to think of oneself in a negative lens. I often expressed myself, in humor, as somewhat less than perfect. Realizing that is a simple form of malpractice is valuable spiritual understanding and a good lesson for me today.

    1. That’s a really good point Josef. I too have caught myself doing the same thing sometimes and need to be more aware of not malpracticing myself!

  5. Thank you! I have been beating myself up for doing something not good for a few days! I realize that has not helped. I need to forgive myself and move on. We are all God’s beloved children including me!

  6. I looked up the definition of the word “Perfect” in Webster Dictionary and made bookmarks for myself and some friends. At the top of the bookmark, I put Perfect God – Perfect Bea. Then put a little heart under that. Then, I put all the words that define the word perfect under that: entirely without fault or defect, whole, entire, soundness and the excellence of every part, element or quality; complete, flawless, pure, total, absolute, certain, content, satisfied. And ended with “I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness.” Psalms 17:15 It is a great reminder that as God’s idea, we have all the qualities of God and that helps to keep us at one with God. Thanks, Evan, for the reminder that we all are perfect children of God. And, thanks, to all for the heartfelt and helpful thoughts.

    1. Thankyou Bea,
I wrote this down and going to make myself a bookmark. I added at the bottom “It matters not what be thy lot, so love doth guide ; For storm or shine pure peace is thine, what e’er be tide.”
HYMN “Satisfied” by Mary Baker Eddy.

Thanks Evan for another helpful blog.

      1. Thanks, Jane b, for your idea of putting the citation from Mrs. Eddy’s hymn, “Satisfied.” A good reminder that Love and Peace abide with us at all times and certainly Satisfies! Love it!

    2. Thanks Bea for this lovely idea, and how nice that you made bookmarks for your friends as well. Also loved hearing the verse, “I shall be satisfied when I awake with thy likeness.” Satisfied, as others have mentioned, is key. Feeling dissatisfied can lead nowhere good. I heard someone say that as part of a gratitude practice that every time some small (or big) thing went right during the day he would silently say, “Thank you God, that was more than enough!”

      1. Rose from NY, … This reminds me of a saying,
“If things are going well, … Thank God.
If you seem to not have enough,…Thank God” (for all that you already have).

  7. Thanks, Evan and friends! I did a similar thing, Bea, with the word “good”. I wrote, “I am… (fill in each definition of the word good on a separate line). It filled two and a half pages! Love to all!

    1. Great idea, Gg! Maybe I’ll make more bookmarks or cards with the definition of “good” on them. Thanks so much – love the idea! And thanks to CB for your sweet comment.

      1. Thanks to Evan and all of you for these wonderful ideas. Yes, I’m going to make some bookmarks too. And… you can also include ‘I am adorable’. My practitioner tells me to say that several times a day, since I am the child of ‘Adorable One’.

  8. thank you for the beautiful message and directive to see as God sees and know we are loved, cared for and watched over by all good God. and knowing that we are all good as reflections, ideas, and children of God. Heirs of Christ. Hid with God forever.

  9. What a lovely collection of ideas today from Gods children , to Gods children ,about Gods children! Thank you Evan and everyone.❣️

  10. Perfection is so….humbling!

It takes true childlike humility to see only Good in oneself AND others. Criticism of others seems
rampant in society, and according to Plato, this stems from criticism of ourSELVES! What irony.
“What thou see-est, that thou be-est.” ~Plato (See MBE re him)

  11. Thanks for the helpful identification. Having a last name like mine
Often brings suggestions of qualities unrelated to good. This is mostly
Done in good humour but sometimes has been very hurtful. This
Blog has been very helpful and suggestions of self worth inspiring.
Seeing what God sees and knows instead of mortal picture is healing,

  12. What jumped out at me most was Evan’s statement that the temptation to think negatively about ourselves is a form of mental malpractice (error) that, “would cover up our good and keep others from seeing it too.” We deprive others from seeing our true Being as the expression of God’s good. I just thought it made me feel bad, didn’t consider the aspect of keeping others from seeing our good. Encourages more untruth about man to be seen as truth. Something to ponder for sure.

Thanks for everyone’s sharing of light, so fascinating how we each read the same post and have our unique response as God reveals individual truth to us as we need it. Beautiful day to all, seeing only what God sees!

  13. Thank you Evan, Bea, and everyone! What an inspiriting blog–and a reminder that we are the reflection of God–all good–now and forever.

  14. This message came at a time when I really needed to hear it! I had been needlessly berating myself over an issue that I was told I needed to apologize for when no ‘human apology’ was needed. Just a God-inspired change in direction. Only love and understanding for all involved is present and will continue to be. Thank-you, Evan,!

  15. Evan, I am endless grateful for your so very loving and powerful explanation of us all as absolute perfect expression of divine Goodness!
When I think about my qualities, then I am very grateful for the wonderful and useful qualities God gave me as His loved child.
As God made everything very good what He has made, as the Bible says very clearly, then I and all my brothers and sisters can also be very good, reflecting the Goodness and Love of our Father-Mother God.
The last four lines in your SV of today are so wonderful, and yes, let’s do that with joy. Thank you so much for the divine simplicity yet with such absolute metaphysics, you give us the healing ideas!♡
It is a pleasure to read all your wonderful comments, thank you friends!♡

  16. Evan, This message is perfect, as I have been praying about seeing what God sees to overcome a claim. The ideas expressed here are very helpful and appreciated. I am so grateful for the inspiration and insight that you share everyday which always brings spiritual growth. Thank you for your selfless gift of this blog and to those who lovingly share their ideas as well. Love and blessings to all.

  17. Wow, after I read your SpiritView again and all the comments, and after I gave my thankful comment up here, I suddenly sat down at my computer, although it is midnight, and wrote a church record, which I pushed before me weeks and weeks. For me it is a healing to “rise up” to do this work which surely results from taking your SV very much to heart and because of thanking God and being happy about the wonderful qualities my Father-Mother God gave me so lovingly.
And I tune very much in to Linda`s thanks to you, dear Evan ! I feel very blessed by your healing SpiritView blog!
