  1. Thanks Evan! I just love your picture today! I was just thinking that we need to be less impressed with what “mortal mind” tells us and be more in tune with what God is telling us. Let’s not be fooled today! But be armoured up as St. Paul says in Ephesians :-

    “Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in all the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having your loins girt about with truth, and having the breastplate of righteousness; And your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit.”

  2. Devil.  Evil; a lie; error; neither corporeality nor mind; the opposite of Truth; a belief in sin, sickness, and death; animal magnetism or hypnotism; the lust of the flesh, which saith: “I am life and intelligence in matter. There is more than one mind, for I am mind, — a wicked mind, self-made or created by a tribal god and put into the opposite of mind, termed matter, thence to
    reproduce a mortal universe, including man, not after the image and likeness of Spirit, but after its own image.” S&H 584:17
    “Philosophy hypothetically regards creation as its own creator, puts cause into effect, and out of nothing would create something, whose noumenon is mortal mind, with its phenomenon matter, — an evil mind already doomed, whose modes are material manifestations of
    evil, and that continually, until self-extinguished by suffering!” Mis. 362:15

  3. Very thought provoking! Actually this makes me think how we rarely see what is REALLY the true picture…and how when Mary saw Jesus at the sepulchre, she thought he was the gardener (apparently) …and how often are people not what we expect too!
    How often do we see “the gardener” instead of GOD’S PERFECT CHILD!

    Also I am reminded of MBE’s sentence that we see what we believe and we believe what we see.

  4. BOAST: (Webster) To vaunt one’s self; to brag; to say or tell things which are intended to give others a high opinion of one’s self or of things belonging to one’s self;
    Thanks, Evan for this wonderful opportunity to destroy this error by knowing its nothingness–, nothing to be heard, spoken, seen or felt. Why?
    Because it’s based on a lie, the lie of many minds and the subsequent need for one mind to impress another in order to influence them to dismiss and disregard themselves and others. It’s the inflation of personal sense, the Liar, breaking every commandment for its own gain.

    But this evil is neither person, place, or thing, says our textbook, so any boaster is the liar boasting of its lies, darkness boasting of its power over light. A shadow can boast all it wants, but it will never have power over omnipresent light.
    But a lie must be destroyed,– disbelieved– by shining the light of the Truth right into it. Truth: there is one Mind, God, Love who made all and called it good. Man REFLECTS good and can no more take credit for it than a rooster can take credit for a sunrise. Every healing is a revealing of what’s eternally there. God’s is the power, “God’s be the glory, too.”

  5. This reminds me of Hymn 151 which is one of my favorites. The first verse reads in part:
    “In speechless pray and reverence,
    Dear Lord, I come to Thee;
    My heart with love Thou fillest,
    “Yea, with humility.”

    Jesus was certainly a good example of being humble when he said “I can of mine own self do nothing.” He attributed all of his amazing accomplishments to God. We should also!!!

  6. Loved the picture and the comments. Yes, we reflect God’s goodness and can’t take credit for it! God gets all the credit for everything beautiful and good.

  7. According to Thesaurus.com one of the synonyms for Boast is Joy; which then is “to feel joy; be glad, rejoice.” Hmmm!

  8. Funny picture, they hide behind their mask.
    Thank you Evan for this SpiritView. I am positively astonished what wonderful inspiring replies result from this tiny proverb. Thank you all very much! I also do love that Hymn 151 so very much, also the melody is so inspiring.
    I am quite with Lori, that also we, God`s loved children, can do nothing on our own, but just what we see our Father doing. Yes, we give all honore to God, that all our doings, wantings, accomplishings, knowing, saying etc. come solely from the great “I AM”, our God. Am so grateful that I learned to understand this Truth through Christian Science!

  9. Great comments! Thought provoking that the small
    Fish wears a threatening shark mask – and the “dangerous” shark wears the mask of an innocent, harmless run of the mill fish! THAT speaks volumes!

    1. Oh Patty, very interesting, was not aware of that; it gives to think a bit more for me to understand what is ment with it. Thanks for this hint. 🙂

  10. My family stopped today to look at this picture and really ponder the meaning behind it. It was a smile but also very thought provoking. Thank you Evan! 🙂 Susan
