Relax, and let go of the stress

March 4, 2016 | 10 comments

A woman described a frightful scenario to me and then wondered what to do next. I suggested a good first step was to let go of her stress over it. And I assured her that God would find a solution and reveal it to her as she listened for divine direction. And that proved to be the case.

Sometimes, the most helpful first step we can take when facing scary circumstances, is to release the stress.

Stress gets in the way of clear thinking. It muddies one’s point of view. It creates tense conditions in thought that are rigid, stiff and fearful.

Stress is not helpful, and it can be dissolved with an understanding of God’s ability to deal with the situation before you.

You are never alone! You don’t have to solve the problem by yourself. God is an ever-present help with solutions, answers and healing possibilities. The less you stress out, and the more you quietly listen and pray, the sooner you discern those spiritual solutions and find their healing power at work on your behalf.

So, never feel like you are obligated to stress out. You are not! You can live stress-free by honoring God’s ability and presence first, and letting it guide your thought to peaceful places.

Stress less and pray more. It’s the healing way to live.

  1. What a lovely solution : Stressing less + praying more = healing way to live.
The difficulty is, most of the times we are so preoccupied in taking stress, that we are mesmerised by it and though we know that prayer is always the healing answer, we don’t take to prayer soon.
Here the “Early Morning Shield of Prayer” comes to rescue. Every morning we wake up to live another day. Isn’t this proof enough that “God is our Life”? Its so very important then, to give first place to God, who is our very life, by turning our thoughts to Him in prayer, acknowledging His power, presence, guidance, care and influence in our daily life.
Just as a shield protects us from outside attacks, the “Early Morning Shield of Prayer” will protect us from the attacks of Stress and Strain in our life.
Today itself an error tried to attack me and give me stress. But my “Early morning Shield of prayer” came to my rescue and was successful in protecting me and keeping me safe and untouched.
Thanks so much Evan for the daily doses of inspiration, which blesses one and all.

  2. Evan, I just can’t thank you enough for taking the time to post each day. Your words always come at the perfect time and the comfort, encouragement and direction they provide is invaluable. Thank you for letting your light shine so we can share in it!!!

  3. Not stressed but blessed! That simple phrase has lifted me up many times. The essence of stress as Evan points out, is the belief that we have to cope alone. Once God is invited in, stress immediately lessens, and the way to a solution is clear. “God in the midst of thee is mighty!” Such gratitude for your posts,Evan.

  4. Thank you, Evan, Nergish, Terra and Grace. All wonderful thoughts that I needed so much this morning. I love how the timing of such thoughts correspond so often to a need that is comforted by such caring shares.

  5. Thank you, Evan, and Nergish, Terra, grace and Carol! Isn’t stress just our Fear that maybe God is absent – that we are separate from Him/Her? As all of you have said, establishing our oneness with God first thing in prayer every morning, is our shield and strength. “It is plain that nothing can be added to the mind already full.” MBE.

  6. Thanks so much everyone for your inspiring thoughts. I’ve found that the words of Hymn 445 set me on the right path for the day. It starts, “I awake each morn to a brand new day, Singing Hallelujah as I go on my way, For my heart is fixed on the one guarantee: the Love that is All holds me tenderly.” And ends with, “So no matter the need and no matter the threat, I’m secure in Your love, no fear no regret. Can there be a sweeter comfort, a grace more divine, Than the thought that Your love is here and is mine?”

  7. I love to place myself and any other friend or relative in God’s pocket. It always fills me with great comfort. Knowing God is so close and protecting really alleviates a lot of stress.

  8. Oh I needed these words of comfort and Truth today, and I thank you too, for taking time to post on here as it always seems to be what I need right here. Plus, your gentle , clear way of explaining things is so refreshing and clear and feels like going ” home” that is the best way I can explain it! So thank you so much and now to de stress and pray and listen…as my situations have all been terrifying of late in the mortal seemings of mortal mind, so…taking a break form it with elevating to Spiritual conscious knowing God will led me the rest of the way in His time..Blessings –and appreciation!
