See your child through the eyes of God

Do you have children? Are they bright, creative, wise, spiritually minded, intelligent, able and capable? Of course they are. That’s the way God made them.

Children are created in the Mind of God long before human parents know anything about them. Parenting is about bearing witness to what God put in the individual in the first place. The spiritual gifts might not always be obvious, but they are there. If we look deeply enough into their spiritual individuality, we find it, and it comes out for all to see more tangibly.

So, practice frequently, acknowledging the whole, complete heavenly being your children embody.

They are intelligent. They are wise. They are spiritually minded. They reflect the one Mind, the same Mind you do, and that means they are informed by God, inspired by God, guided, directed and led by God.

God puts intelligent thoughts into their thinking. They respond to those thoughts. They love them. They honor them. They obey them.

Your child is not the offspring of mortal mind: dull, unresponsive, and disobedient. That’s not God’s child. That’s a mistaken identity, the wrong picture, and cries out to be replaced with the correct spiritual idea.

Your child is God’s creation, the offspring of the good, true and beautiful.

Your child is a natural born spiritual thinker, loving the truth, responding to the truth and reflecting the truth.

Your child is an A-OK, top-notch, all right, has-it-altogether, A+, top-of-the-line, perfect being.

Look at your child through God’s eyes, and you’ll see what I mean.

“In Science man is the offspring of Spirit. The beautiful, good, and pure constitute his ancestry. His origin is not, like that of mortals, in brute instinct, nor does he pass through material conditions prior to reaching intelligence. Spirit is his primitive and ultimate source of being; God is his Father, and Life is the law of his being.” Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health, p. 63.

  1. Ah ha! Loved this. It is so joyous and assured. And a great reminder of how to identify our children and all children all the time. Thank you!

  2. I love this too! And how important it is to see ALL of the world’s children this way, not just the ones under our roof. This is true for children in Iran, inner city Detroit, and in Somalia. I am so grateful for your sharing of this, Evan. It lifts us the world thought about children in such a practical way. Man as God’s image is such an amazing creature!

  3. Thank you! This hit the spot. I often pray with our adult children as they rely on their faith going through challenges. This bog is right on! Helps me stay on track. Loved it! djw

  4. This blog hits the mark on the head as does all of Evan’s blogs. Today, when Children are treated in a brutal fashion, a blog like this is absolutely necessary to heal what’s SEEMINGLY going on. The child like thought is the role model of today as well as the future.

  5. An inspired treatment for children of all ages as well as a wonderful treatment for sight/vision. After all, that’s what it’s all about — how we think about God and man.

  6. Thank you for this “treatment!” I wrote out these ideas three times and put in the names of each of my three children … 🙂
