When praying for spiritual healing, it helps to see ourselves the way God sees us.
When you pray, are you seeing what God sees? Are you knowing what God knows?
God sees perfection. God sees perfection in you!

Thank you Evan. I’m so grateful for your loving inspiration. I am a life-long Christian Scientist. My parents used to tell me throughout my life when I needed to hear it that we would all “know the Truth together” and this early morning you are reminding me of the same thing…the Truth of our being. Such a blessing.
I believe this, and have had several healings. But the thing that confuses me is that my knee seems to hurt and swell despite my belief and my focus on previous healings. In other words, my perfection and my sore knee can not both exist. Since God sees me as perfect why would He “heal” an ailment that does not exist? To think of a “healing” seems to refute the belief that I am perfect. The condition persists, despite my attempts to focus on reality. I recognize the two levels of thinking going on here, but I do not know how to resolve this issue. I hope this question is clear. It’s hard to put into words.

What helps me to understand this is to read the words in the Bible about God being our “healer” metaphysically, to read that word, “heal” metaphysically/Spiritually. This means that the very Truth – that God is (omnipotent good, All-in-all, etc.) ‘heals’ any sense of dis – ease, or discord. It is not that anything is really changing, or that anything needs to change – you are, all is indeed already perfect, but the illusion, the mist is dissolved back into its native nothingness, and we see what is and has always truly been – God and God’s perfect All.

The number and the concept are 5, perfect, unchanging. Yes to one who can comprehend and put into practice those concepts.
A stain on a paper covering the number 5 renders it useless, impossible to see, incomprehensible.
The stain is human conditioning.
There are days when ALL I comprehend are the stains covering the Truth.
I find it utterly exhausting realizing that I’ve yet again been so easily led out of the Kingdom. Again and again.
Sometimes I just want to QUIT trying to BE. I long for the days of utter ignorance for there was a charming security to it.
I personally do not appreciate the concept of a number as helpful in explaining what I AM.
P.S I hate math! (not really).

If you do not like the use of numbers to explain who you are, then try something else, like a table, or chair, or a book. The number’s reality is in its mental concept, not what is written on a piece of paper. Certainly it can be obscured by a stain and rendered useless if that number is limited to its place on the paper, but the reality, or understanding, of the number 5 is not touched. Just like a table. As a material object it can be burned, broken or destroyed. The material table wasn’t the truth about the table. The idea of the table is the truth about it. The idea behind the table, which enables it to be built into a useful object, is the truth of the table, and the idea cannot be destroyed. No matter what you do to the material table, the idea of the table is not touched. It remains perfect. Reality is mental, never physical. A stain cannot ever render the number 5 useless because you know the number 5, understand the number 5 and cannot be made to believe it is the number 6 or 4. A stain on a piece of paper cannot make a 5 anything more or less than 5. Just like a broken table cannot change the purity of the idea of the table.
Our Daily Prayer, which establishes the reign of divine Truth, Life, and Love in consciousness protects us from this belief that we can ever be easily led out of the Kingdom. Jesus assured us that the Kingdom of God is within! And Mrs. Eddy showed us how to pray to LET that law reign within us. We consent to this reign of divine law every day, LET it be established in thought every day. Our Leader said we must “Hold thought steadfastly to the enduring, the good, and the true…” (see S&H p 261:4) It’s all about what occupies thought. It’s never about the number on a paper or a broken table.
Dear Longing and yearning for Home,
I think we all have had our times of feeling the way you have
mentioned, with stains Trying to cover the Truth. I remember,
in college, feeling like just a number, in a huge classroom (-auditorium,
really), where students felt rather small and insignificant. But as Evan
has pointed out – the stain does not in “reality” take away the number 5,
just as our individuality is not diminished by those around us.
The Truth of our BEing is always there, even if obscured from view or
seemingly nonexistent, or faded by what may seem like a stain on our
True Self. The Principle of it remains, even if we seem unaware of it’s
presence and can never be taken away, despite the many temptations you
or we may feel. I think the “Kingdom” as you mention can be restored by
thinking as Mrs. Eddy describes Kingdom of Heaven as being, “The reign
of [H]armony in divine Science; the realm of unerring, eternal, and omnipotent
Mind; the atmosphere of Spirit, where Soul is supreme”. This Kingdom can
not be taken from us no matter what the mortal senses seem to be telling us.
