Seek spiritual mindedness above all else

If you want to have the best day possible, of all the goals you pursue, put seeking spiritual mindedness at the top of your list! It will have the best effect of all.

Spiritual mindedness is knowing God’s presence and reflecting His wisdom and love.

When you know God’s presence, you find the good to be seen more readily.

When you know God’s presence, you will not be mesmerized by evil, but will see solutions that conquer it.

When you know God’s presence, you stay in an inspired state of thought that is most receptive to progressive ideas and healing truths.

When you know God’s presence, you stay healthy and happy, retain a joyful attitude and be a positive influence on everyone around you.

When you know God’s presence you will be experiencing the best life has to offer.

Mary Baker Eddy wrote, “Paul said, “To be spiritually minded is life.” We approach God, or Life, in proportion to our spirituality, our fidelity to Truth and Love; and in that ratio we know all human need…”
Science and Health, p. 95.

When you know God’s presence, you more readily discern the need of the moment and how to meet it.

The #1 need is to stay spiritually minded, and whatever else is needed will fall into place.

  1. As a demonstration of spiritual mindedness, yesterday was a beautiful day at just the right time for our track meet. The night before I had a call from the opposing track coach who was concerned that the weather would be very bad for the pole vault and that he would limit the number of kids he brought to the meet to make help the event work out for the better vaulter if we did have good enough weather to vault. I reassured him that God was all powerful and that we consider prayer for good weather so that the kids could vault safely. All through the meet is was nothing but sunshine until the vaulter were done and then the rain began.
For me spiritual mindedness is to always be open to the spiritual understanding of God’s goodness and power even to provide good weather for such a lowly event as a track meet. Nothing is outside of God’s ability to provide.
Thank you Evan for this wonderful post.

  2. …:The #1 need is to stay spiritually minded, and whatever else is needed will fall into place.” I love the simpleness and promise of this. So helpful, Evan, thank you. “Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need”… (and any need). The other night my dog woke up during the night and seemed to be having a difficulty with her ear and was very uncomfortable. I held to the Truth of her real being and comforted her with compassion and she calmly went back to sleep and has not had any more difficulty with it. I am so grateful for these Truths that give us support when we most need it, at any time and under any circumstance.

  3. I now walk a path
    Where fewer steps have trodden
    Pleasure and sense have
Given way to a sense Gods perfection
    Brother and sister choose aright
Follow not where the masses go
Sense and pleasure are not so kind
In these the easy life cannot be found
Take off the noose around thy neck
    What ye accept as normal
Is the illusion of mortal mind

    1. Thank you Maximo! I found this so helpful today as I was reading the news on the internet & found myself being very concerned about it. Your prose helped me a great deal.

  4. Thanks, Evan, for this inspiring instruction. I had a small demonstration of this when I arose this morning. Although I had many things I wanted to accomplish in preparation for my upcoming move, I started the day with prayer and study of the Bible lesson. As a result, fresh ideas came to me where I am able to keep from my collection, instead of selling, two bird houses I especially like. I can view one from my desk where I’m sitting now. It’s a good reminder of putting God first always results in only good.

  5. Loved this lesson. Always put God first! I can’t imagine starting my day any other way. It reminds me of a favorite hymn , I Walk With Love. .

  6. Thanks, Evan. Yes, this is the best way to start the day! If our thoughts first focus on God and His goodness, presence, and power, we are able to listen and follow His direction. All our activities then fall into place naturally and without pressure and confusion. It’s what I’ve been learning to do and it’s the only way to go! Wish I’d do it ALL the time…

  7. Thank you Evan for today`s loving SpiritView. “Spiritual mindedness is Life and is peace” as I remember, MBEddy says. Decades ago a practitioner said to me, that we have to cultivate our spiritual sense, i.e. to study this Science steadily so that we are more and more in the consciouness of Gods presence, just what Evan said today. Great lesson today, thanks a lot, Evan.

    1. Alan… thank you …. this one statement really
pretty much says it all….. if we could go thru an entire day with this motto branded
in our minds I’m sure we would experience
the comfort and confidence that Goodness demonstrated would bring… demonstrated because we desire ‘ Thy will, not mine, be done..’
