Seek the spiritual Christmas

December 15, 2022 | 17 comments

Christmas respects the Christ too much to submerge itself in merely temporary means and ends. It represents the eternal informing Soul recognized only in harmony, in the beauty and bounty of Life everlasting, — in the truth that is Life, the Life that heals and saves mankind.

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Miscellany, p 259

  1. What a profound statement by our Leader.. And, what a high standard she has given us to live life with a purpose..
The mortal view of life will always end in sadness.
Her spiritual view will always expand into infinity.
Let’s all celebrate a meaningful Christmas by living the Christ like life..
We will be the light of the world and that light will not be put out. It will shine for eternity.

  2. I am super grateful that each one of us radiates love. Divine Love is unstoppable. Right here, right now and forever, we firmly stand in the laser sharp light of the Christ. The mist of cloudy thinking or doing is dispersed into its native nothingness. We vehemently insist that we will be watchful and steadfast, as we reject whatever intrusion seems to pop up and shout.
With joy and dominion, we sing: “All glory be to God on high, God whose glory fills the sky…”
    Love for all!!! MomNDC (grandmother)

  3. I love to hear the truthful way to honor Christmas. It is the one clear time of the year to honor our shared spirituality. Merry Christmas to all of you.

  4. Scientifically-and absolutely-speaking, All Creation IS lit with the Light of Divine Love. As we know, we are–absolutely and scientifically-speaking–Ideas in this Creation, so we all naturally reflect this Light. Realizing and knowing and living these Facts, in the so-called human-realm, and in whatever degree, is wondrous and wonderful, and I salute any and all of us who strive for this High Standard of Life!

Bountiful Days of love and joy and peace to you all, every day,
    all day, and forever!

    Amen

    1. All creation lit with the Divine Love—thank you for this beautiful, powerful idea of Christmas lights at their best!

  5. Oh, that we should all realize that we are bathed in this beautiful Christ Light that transforms human consciousness,-,- lifting us from the darkness of despair, oppression, sin and sickness,- awakening us to the Kingdom within, and enabling us to feel the palpitating presence of divine Love that permeates everything!. This recognition and certainty of God’s Law of all encompassing Love is the true joy of Christmas.

    1. Linda I loved, “the palpitating presence of divine Love that permeates everything.” As I read those words I could feel it!

  6. Thank you Evan for the quotation by MBE about Christmas.

With God we would not exist, and without Christ there would be no Christmas.
Without Christ we would all be in a sorry state – as in a dead end. So we must
keep the Christ in Christmas, and not allow ourselves to forget what Christ stands
for in every good thing that we enjoy so much at Christmas. Let us cherish
the babe of Christian healing and welcome him into our hearts. Such a
joyful time celebrating with Christ, loving one another, and sharing our
    Christmas joy.

Thank you, J – that is a really excellent conversation so clearly explained, and I shall be
    pondering it also.

  7. I mentioned this the other day, but late in the day so I wanted to repost the link to last year’s Christmas Eve Christian Science lecture that was live-streamed from Third Church NYC titled ‘The Science of Christmas.’ It was suggested to me that I rewatch this to help me tap into the true spirit of the season. Laurance Doyle, astrophysicist, actually proves in this lecture that scientifically speaking Christmas has no beginning and no end. Lots of amazing insights from his unique perspective as a scientist and a Christian Scientist.

  8. Thank you Evan for this beautiful and helpful, surely prayerfully-supported quote. And thank you all dear ones for your also loving contributions. Merry Christmas to you all and happy Eternity.

  9. Thank you Evan and everyone. Christmas is an ever present moment in our lives. I thank God for sending His son, Jesus, to make known the knowledge of the Christ to us. How chaotic, the world would have been without the active presence of the Christ today! Praisel our God.
