Seeker or Finder

Are you a seeker or a finder?

Jesus Christ instructed, “Seek and find.” To experience the fulfillment of his promise though, we can’t remain in a seeking mode. We need to enter the finding mode.

So, don’t spend your life seeking. Spend it finding.

God’s good is here and now. It’s as close as the thoughts you think.

Transcend being a Seeker and become a Finder! It’s the more scientific way.

  1. Evan,

I used to consider myself as having “found” and looked down a little on those who were still “seeking”. (Ahh, I thought, if only they knew what I now know!)

Then a Hindu neighbor across the hall became interested in CS through me. I gave him some literature and explained some basics. He was quite interested.

Then he came back, and brought me a piece of literature from his tradition. He wanted to explain it to me. I listened patiently, and then started my comments by saying, “Well, the Christian Science point of view on this would be … ”

He looked surprised, and his face changed. He interrupted me shortly, and said, “If you think you have FOUND TRUTH … then I have no USE for you!” And he left. And we never really had a meaningful conversation about things of importance again.

So since then, I have maybe considered myself — (privately, in my own consciousness) — to be a “finder” who HAS found … but publicly, in conversation with other ‘seekers’ I err on the side of openness to their ideas, and give the benefit of the doubt to the possibility that there is still more for me to learn. And that I might even learn some of it … from them!

  2. To above,

Points well taken. I agree, that we should never take the attitude of “I know it all.” We all have much to learn! But it certainly is fun and enjoyable to be finding more and more of that truth everyday…

  3. That WAS a good question, Anonymous, and I’m glad I went back to the June 15th blog (Choosing to See the Good in Others) to find out if it was answered. Yes. A GOOD answer. Very helpful. ~ Another Anonymous

  4. To find means to me to acknowlege the truth as being present in my life here and now – not as something i need to seek on the outside be it finances health love home job but that as the image and likeness of GOD I have everything I need NOW
