Some of the best gifts

December 21, 2016 | 19 comments

Here are a few gifts you might consider giving to friends, family and neighbors this Christmas that can make your holiday extra memorable.

The gift of time for your children. Spend some time with them doing something they would like to do.

The gift of forgiveness for a co-worker you are holding a grudge against.

The gift of humility toward someone important to you that feels like you are always trying to one-up them.

The gift of listening to someone who would like to have your ear for a few moments.

The gift of generosity toward someone in need that has so much less than you.

The gift of patience toward someone you have not shared much patience toward.

The gift of care toward someone who could use some care but you passed by day after day because you were so busy with your agenda.

The gift of affection toward someone close to you yet yearning to feel your tender and caring touch.

The gift of attention to someone who feels like they never have your attention, but perhaps you could share a bit toward with good effect.

The gift of companionship to someone feeling lonely.

The gift of love to the hurting heart.

The gift of prayer for someone in need of healing.

You don’t have to spend countless hours online or in the mall shopping for gifts. The best gifts of all come right from the heart. And likely will be some of the most memorable gifts received by those you give them too.

  1. What a lovely concept of gifting you have gifted us with this morning, Evan! The source of all true gifting is from God as stated in James 1:16-17 (So, , my very dear friends, don’t get thrown off course. Every desirable and beneficial gift comes out of heaven. The gifts are rivers of light cascading down from the Father of Light–The Message). I have been praying all month that my gifting be God-directed. I love how you have taken the concept of giving things to acts of kindness and prayer. And thank you, Evan, for your daily gifts of inspiration all year through this blog. We are all blessed with your sharing.

  2. Thank you so very much for these gift suggestions!
I am going to make a copy as a check-list for myself
and try to check off each one! They are the BEST!
Happy Christmas and New Year to you and your family!

  3. Thank you Evan for all the precious gifts without money and with which we can bless friends and everybody we meet.
In the Christian Science Herold of December – ok, it is the German Herold – but I am sure you will find this article from the Board of Directors of The Motherchurch also in the Journal – i.e. translated “Presents which come from the heart”, in German “Geschenke, die von Herzen kommen” (Page 19). In this article the members of the Board of Directors tell us what they would like to give as a Christmaspresent – that is so inspiring !

  4. But I don’t know how to wrap these kinds of gifts…..

Just kidding….Merry Christmas and thank you Evan and all…

This is easy for me because these are the only gifts I have to give…

  5. My loving wife just reminded me that…

    “The best things in life…
    Are not things….”

Thank you…You just saved us a ton of money…..

  6. My gift to you, Evan, and to all who have shared their thoughts and experiences here is one of deep gratitude. Have a Joyous Christmas!!!

  7. I, too, love how you have taken the concept of giving things to acts of kindness and prayer. And thank you, Evan, for your daily gifts of inspiration all year. You are gift we get year-round.

  8. “Thanks be unto God for his unspeakable gift.”!!!! Love that this is the last Bible quotation, from II Corinthians 9, in our C.S Bible Lesson on Christian Science this week! We all have so many gifts to give each other because God is constantly pouring out His/Her gifts to us! Thank You, God and Thank You, Evan, for Spiritview, and Thank You All Commenters who so faithfully add to Spiritview every day! Much Love and Gratitude!
