Stand Your Ground with God

January 15, 2014 | 12 comments

Have you ever felt pushed around against your will? Bullied perhaps?

If so, never assume the position of helplessness. You are not helpless! God is with you to keep your feet firmly planted on the ground of what’s right and to fend off the human will that is trying to manipulate your thought and actions.

The first place to take action is in your thinking. You live out what you think. So, if you assume you’re helpless, you’ll act and look helpless. That does not help you overcome the trouble!

You are never helpless.

The problem may appear to be another person, but the real issue is deeper—in thought. Mortal-will manipulation is often the trouble-maker, and an error that needs to be corrected.

Take the stance of “God’s will be done!” Do not bestow power upon mortal will, either in others or in yourself.

God’s will is for respect, care, consideration, compassion, forgiveness and love. These qualities have divine power in them to neutralize their opposites.

God’s intent can’t be thwarted by a mortal will. God is bigger and has the final say!

Side with God and don’t let mortal will create fear or trepidation in your mind.

You have the wisdom and understanding you need coming from God to stand your ground with what is right and improve troubled circumstances.

God is not pushed around by a bully, and you don’t need to be either.

  1. Thank you! “Thy will be done!” Gonna think that all day long today and just see how might benefit the outcome! Thanks!

    1. Oh my goodness, this is so pertinent to a situation I am facing right now. Thank you for your alertness to post the blog.

  2. Understanding that every thing that I do or happens to me first comes within thought, it shall be thought that will prevent me to be bullied into something that I would not do. So hurrah, I have every thing under control.

  3. Binding up the “strong man”, whether its our will or another’s will or the collective will of universal belief (the law of karma etc), is truly liberating. Thanks Evan

  4. Thank you so much Evan. Each day I appreciate the gifts of goodness you send our way. It is time I take time to express my appreciation!! I loved how Dot Hood expressed it at Christmas time that you are sending us a gift everyday!! I enjoy all of them whether they are a simple Bible verse or a line or two from Mary Baker Eddy’s writings or your God given thoughts on a subject like today. Your work and effort has to be appreciated by so many just like me, which enjoy it everyday but are not taking the time to let you know how much!! Thank you!! Faye from Iowa

  5. Evan – We (I share your helpful daily comments with several who do not have a computer — This one today – “Bully Free Zone” hits the mark with several… and in trying to print it out — the background scenery tries to eliminate your spiritual comments. Could you please eliminate the beautiful scenery for the sake of seeing your message? Thanks much.

    1. Dorothy,

When you copy and paste, be sure not to capture any scenery in your COPY. Keep your cursor only in the white box, and you will not copy any scene with the comments. To print a blog post, click on the PRINT button, and you’ll get the blog without any scenery. I hope you get it figured out! Thanks for reading.

  6. Again, your fresh approach is such a welcome addition to the way in which to handle bullying. THOUGHT..our own THOUGHT, and holding to the Truth undergirded with God’s love, wow…potent and powerful in the sift of the experience!!! How lovely and appreciated! With gratitude to god for using you to clarify this deeply disturbing seeming illusion of being bullied. Rise above it…in our thought and hold the qualities of God out there for all!–With deep respect, Merri

  7. Such a helpful article Evan. Addresses problems and human will we face. But as rightly put by you Gods will works wonders and He is in control, so whatever situation we may be in we will b taken care of by Love, God.
