Stay spiritually minded this holiday season

December 16, 2021 | 17 comments

A busy holiday season is upon us. What is your priority for the coming month? Is it shopping, cooking, planning for events and get togethers, or prayer, peace of mind and feeling close to God?

I hope you choose the latter!

Prepping for the holidays is fine, but spiritual mindedness is most important of all. When your thought is in a good place, everything else falls together so much better.

If seeking spiritual mindedness is a priority for your holiday season, it will end on a happy and healthy note.

As the apostle Paul reminded us, “To be spiritually minded is life and peace” (Romans 8:6).

I pray that your holiday season is filled with the “life and peace,” that come from spiritual mindedness.

  1. Yes, the season is upon us that of goodwill ,gratitude, and the love of sharing what is in our hearts for mankind. T’is the season of joy and happiness, and great love being expressed in our homes, offices, and public spaces. It may seem that mankind is caught up in a frenzy of shopping, planning and parties, but underneath it all is the expectation of good in our hearts. Gifts of the heart are to be shared.

  2. Christmas is a good time to decide what is really important in our lives. The COVID challenge has also given us an opportunity to reevaluate our priorities..
It looks to me like spiritual values are winning.
Even Zoom church services have blessed us in a unique way.
    Reminds me that “man’s extremity is God’s opportunity”.S&H 266:14
What a gift we have in God’s daily provision of His loving care..Could there be a greater Christmas gift.

Thank You Evan for this Spirit View and all the wonderful teachings.

    Lovingkindness, David

    1. David thanks for sharing this lesson with us, a kind gift to your SpiritView friends. I will take time to savor it.

    2. Thank you David. I haven’t looked up the citations yet but I’m encouraged that maybe it will give me some inspiration for A Wednesday evening testimony readings.

  4. Merry Christmas everyone, every day and thank you all for sharing. I will be dedicating some time to reading your citations, David. I know it will be a blessed time….thank you!

  5. I shall be thinking of Christmas Day as a Holy Day , as according to a dictionary definition, the word holiday comes from the Old English word hāligdæg (hālig “holy” + dæg “day”).[1] The word originally referred only to special religious days.

I shall be thanking God and our dear Saviour for all the good
things that are revealed to us on that special holy day and Christmas
period, and rejoice for everyone and everything good that unfolds. It will all be in and of God, infinite Mind, and will include our company, gifts, food etc. – all that God is providing for us to accept or to give.

So let our Christmas be filled and flowing with Christlike joy, gratitude, and love for God and man.
and with the peace of God in our hearts.

  6. Evan, thank you for this statement:
“I pray that your holiday season is filled with the “life and peace,” that come from spiritual mindedness.”

It feels like a treatment, and to know that you are praying for us is a wonderful gift, thank you for that. Praying the same for you and your loved ones.

  7. Thank you, Evan, and may I pray the same good for your and yours. Thank you for all the gifts of inspiration you share all the year round.

Can’t wait for Christmas Eve to hear a talk by Laurance Doyle, PhD on “The Science of Christmas”! I talked to a person in the office at Third Church of Christ Scientist, New York City. This is by Zoom only, and not in person. She mentioned getting the word out to everyone. 🙂 There will also be a Q&A after the talk. Josh Henn, who is a soloist for The Mother Church will also be participating. Josh has a beautiful voice!
