Stay Truth-alert

October 6, 2016 | 14 comments

When engaging an activity that has substantial consequences to one’s life, it’s important to remain alert while participating in that activity.

For instance, if you are driving down the highway and want to get to your destination safely you remain alert to watch for oncoming cars and to keep your own vehicle in its proper lane.

One of the most critical activities you engage on any given day is the act of thinking. You are constantly making decisions about what to do, how to do it and when to do it. Each decision you make has consequences, sometimes life altering. To make the best decision it’s vital to stay alert to the spiritual facts of being. When you reason out from a spiritual premise, you’ll always come to the best conclusion and make the wisest decision that brings the most goodness into your experience over the long run.

To reason out from a spiritual premise, though, one must remain Truth-alert!

To be Truth-alert, is to be keenly aware of God’s power and presence. It’s to know the reality of Spirit that supports and sustains all being. It’s to know the presence of abundance, health, wisdom, joy, and intelligence. It’s to be spiritually minded, to be inspired and tuned into the realities of God that uplift, help and heal. It’s to know how loved and cared for you are as a child of God.

To be Truth-alert, one can’t be matter-alert. Studying matter, rather than Spirit, saps mental time and energy that could be use much more productively.

To study the body, for instance, to determine one’s state of health is to be lost in material sense rather than tuned into spiritual sense. To measure your wealth per how much money you have in the bank is to lose sight of your immortal riches already built into your being. To fear anything, is to miss out on Love. Any type of “matter-alert,” is the antitheses of being Truth-alert.

So, watch your thinking today and be sure to stay Truth-alert. It’s much more productive to be taking in the evidence of spiritual truth and growing spiritually than to wander around aimlessly in the dark abyss of material sense. This is a choice you can make. And you can make the wise choice that leads to a healing and progressive outcome.

“We should become more familiar with good than with evil, and guard against false beliefs as watchfully as we bar our doors against the approach of thieves and murderers” Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health, p. 234.

  1. Dear Evan.
Thank you for this wake up call.
It is just what I needed.
I often wondered what Jesus meant when he said ” I say unto you, watch.”

  2. Your inspiration today is so timely and has come as an healing answer.

I was pondering on keeping a careful vigil over our thoughts, because so often we allow unwanted thoughts to creep into our consciousness. Thoughts of anger, hurt feelings, jealousy, anguish for the future, worries for loved ones, etc. These unwanted thoughts so crowd our thinking, that we are not alert to the Truth. The Truth that God’s power is very much present in our life, and its He who sustains and supports us and provides us with all that we ever need: be it a good job, care of loved ones, a good future, a happy life, good health, peace of mind, strength to go about our daily duties, etc.

Oh yes, its actually God who deserves place in our thoughts and not the cares of life. If we think of spirituality, if we think of God and His goodness, His power and presence then our cups will be filled and will overflow with good automatically and effortlessly.
No need for strife or struggle.

The charms of matter are so mesmeric, that they will take a full hold on our thinking and lead us to nowhere, making us feel miserable and depressed. So we need to keep a close watch on our thoughts, and follow Evan’s guidelines to be Truth-alert, to be spiritually minded, to be inspired and tuned into the realities of God that uplift, help and heal. It’s to know, how loved and cared for we are as a child of God. So why worry??? Lets be happy every step of the way.

  3. Thank You for this thought today and thank you Nergish for your comments, now I
only hope and pray that I can demonstrate this today!

  4. Thank you for the post today. I am holding my thoughts in the light of divine Mind and this is a blessed day.

  5. Thank you Evan for this important reminder to be ever vigilant watching our thoughts and keeping them God-focused.

  6. I loved today’s alert. Thank you Evan for this reminder. I could start every day by reading this. This week’s lesson speaks about Angels and grace which play an important part in our daily life. When we stay in Truth alert by letting God go 1st we will be blessed. I’m feeling so much gratitude this morning.

  7. Thanks to you Evan and to all who have commented. After studying and praying this morning the thought came to me “If it never happened, I can suffer no results.” Accidents never truly happen in God’s kingdom, which is where we dwell always, therefore they can have no results. Any false testimony of the materials to the contrary is just that false – a lie possessing no power – no reality!

  8. Thank you Evan and all…
This latest post has really got me thinking…
Even though I am a Christian Science student I have only begun to realize the fallacy of my thinking there is an inner and an outer life…
God is omnipresent…somehow this has helped me dismantle yet another erroneous belief

  9. A big Thankyou to Evan and others who commented. Being or remaining Truth- elert need to be an inherent part of our livelihood or Christ-likeness . We have to be constantly conscious of the Truth of our being. On the Truth of being , so many divine good , or spiritual qualities result.Like, on the Truth of being, lies ; the harmony of being, the immortality of being, the reality of being, the perfection of being, the incorporeality of being, the purity of being, the indestructibility of being, the beauty of being, the comfort of being, the spirituality of being, etc.
Truth is indeed potent , because IT is in and of the Omnipotent Mind. When thought focuses on TRUTH, a wall is built, that error cannot penetrate. Hence,,the need to be Truth-elert.

  10. Thanks so much Goodman Odu I loved your comment. Its so very good. You said it so well that “When thought focuses on TRUTH, a wall is built, that error cannot penetrate.” This should be very helpful to all of us.

  11. Beautiful message Evan.
Nergish, I loved every word you said..its just so soothing and peaceful to know that if we are spiritual minded that’s all we need to lead a happy life. Beautifully explained Nergish.
