Stick and Cling

A patient ended a recent conversation we had with a statement of, “Stick and cling,” that’s what I’ll do!

I loved it! It was such a memorable way of remembering two powerful explanations on how to heal sickness through prayer from the textbook of Christian Science:

“Stick to the truth of being in contradistinction to the error that life, substance, or intelligence can be in matter. Plead with an honest conviction of truth and a clear perception of the unchanging, unerring, and certain effect of divine Science. Then, if your fidelity is half equal to the truth of your plea, you will heal the sick” Science and Health, p. 418.

“When the illusion of sickness or sin tempts you, cling steadfastly to God and His idea. Allow nothing but His likeness to abide in your thought. Let neither fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust, that the recognition of life harmonious — as Life eternally is — can destroy any painful sense of, or belief in, that which Life is not. Let Christian Science, instead of corporeal sense, support your understanding of being, and this understanding will supplant error with Truth, replace mortality with immortality, and silence discord with harmony” Science and Health, p. 495.

  1. Let’s us “stick and cling” today! I love that thought and I use those citations from Science and Health often, they are so helpful. Thanks Evan.

  2. The best visual is the photo of the frog – he really appears to be doing the “stick and cling” and to be very happy about it! He’ll help me remember the joy of this powerful task!
Thank you, Evan – for today and all your wonderful posts!

  3. I love the idea of “stick” and “cling” to remind us of those two very important quotes by Mary Baker Eddy. I will put them to good use!

  4. Awfully sweet and happily laughing is the frog, because I think he is sticking and clinging to his treasure. Our treasure is living, moving and having our being in divine Love, understand it and stick and cling to it to be blessed.

Thank you Evan for these two wonderful and important passages from Science and Health by MBEddy. I also love them and have to ponder it 🙂

  5. Thank you Evan. I notice that when a gymnast flips off the balance beam and lands without stepping forwards or backwards, they get more points. They “stick’ the landing. So, when we stick to the Truth, we do not need to let our thought wander forward and wonder what will happen next or project the problem into the future….nor do we need to let our thought wander backwards, and wonder how the problem started or how much time is tempting us…. Like the gymnast, we can “Stick it” .The truth is the present fact. thank you Evan.

  6. It is very helpful to feel part of a community of fine spiritual thinkers who will “stick and cling” to the absolute truth, especially here in northern California as the sky fills with smoke from the very aggressive belief in wildfires.

God’s harmonious government and maintenance of His Creation is the Only Reality! The smoke is pure illusion! Right? Right!

Thank you all for being loyal to this fact.

    With gratitude,

    Sue

    1. Hi Sue,
yes, I too feel good to be part of this loving community of spiritual thinkers, and I am very grateful that a dear friend once told me about this wonderful SpiritView Blog of Evan.

Regarding the aggressive belief in wildfires, I remember in the Bible 1. King 19 : verses 11 and 12, where Elijah stood before a mountain and there came heavy wind, earthquake and fire, but the Lord was in neither of them. That says to me that storm, earthquake and fire ( seeming wildfires) are not real at all because they have not anything to do with the Lord God – and God is a l l

And God was there, namely the still small voice – calmness and peace and love – thats the true reality! 🙂

      1. Love-ly and helpful, Uta, thank you!

So good to know that error in all its forms is illusory, not God-made!

        :<))
