In these times of recessionary fears and economic concerns, I love this promise recorded in the book of Jeremiah of how to find unfailing supply:
“Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. He will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” Jeremiah 17:7,8 NIV
This vision tells me that if I put my trust in the supply of divine Love, I will never lack.
It tells me that when I put God first, I’ll be like a tree planted by a stream that never runs dry.
It tells me that the “heat of day,” or threats of unemployment, foreclosure, debt, lack of income, etc., will have no effect on me because my “roots,” or thought, is planted in a place that supplies my needs consistently and constantly without delay or hindrance.
It tells me that when I truly trust in divine Mind my “leaves are always green,” or the work that I do and the life that I live will stay prosperous, fresh, vigorous, and healthy.
It tells me that when I lean on the sustaining infinite I will never fear drought—lack of any kind—for there will be no shortage to my sense of things.
Divine Love continually feeds my “roots” with the supply that sustains me regardless of what is humanly going on around me.
As Jesus rested peacefully through the storm while on the little boat at sea, we too can rest peacefully and prosper no matter how much the storms of human economic fear rage around us. The storms will not touch us or affect us adversely. We will not have worries. We will continue to bear fruit without interruption.
Consciousness reflective of divine Love remains prosperous and fruitful.
Are your roots firmly planted in divine Mind today? Are they feeding on the infinite resources of Love? It’s the place where fear of economic projections, predictions or indicators fades away, and God’s omnipresent good and overflowing bounty appear, not just in theory, but in practical everyday ways that meet human needs.
“Divine Love always has met and always will meet every human need.” Mary Baker Eddy
Evan, thank you for expounding on the wide scope of this Bible verse. It reminded me of an experience I had in the early 1980s when we had double digit unemployment and interest rates were at an historical high. I was working for a small bank and I had become aware of several unethical practices by some of the officers. I had tried to alert the owner who chose to ignore me. I used Jeremiah 17:7 & 8 in my prayerful work. I felt impelled to quit my job one day and gave my notice. I only told four of my customers that I was leaving. One of them unexpectedly offered me a job starting immediately at a 30% increase in salary. This job led me to a completely different career path, one that was far more rewarding in many ways.
It is interesting to note of all the subjects Archived, Supply has the greatest number of articles.
Does this point to the fact most people feel and believe a lack of Love or a limited sense of Love’s provision? G
