The accessibility of Christian Science

November 7, 2019 | 19 comments

One of the cool aspects of practicing Christian Science is learning how to find God’s help anywhere, anytime. You don’t have to first get to a drugstore, race to the doctor, or find another person before you can be helped and healed. God’s help is at hand, and you can find it immediately through prayer.

I share in this video, as part of my video series on the benefits of practicing Christian Science, an instance where I needed immediate help and how I found it.

You can find this help too!

(I filmed this video on the shores of Lake Muncho, in British Columbia, Canada, on our road trip home from Alaska last September).

  1. Thank you Evan. I love the scenery you chose for this video with the all the surroundings perfectly reflected in the lake. It fits so well the vlog! Thank you!

  2. PERFECT REFLECTION

    Looking deep into the
    reflection of the lake
    and taking a head count,
    nothing was missing.

    Every cloud, tree, leaf, blade
    of grass,
    Every sail boat, duck, bird,
    nothing missing,
    the reflection mirrored it all.

    A reflection can’t
    delete some objects
    and add others;
    reflection is exact.

    Looking deep into God,
    man is His reflected image.
    Nothing missing,
    the reflection mirrors All.

Beatrice mentioned reflection. This was published in the January 17&24, 2011 Sentinel

  3. A truly Beautiful reflection of God’s ever presence.
Thank you! Lovely poem, Melissa. (Dan, you may try enlarging the video to fill the screen ~ clicking on the square in bottom right corner, if you hadn’t done so).

  4. God is our ever present help in trouble! I love the prayer “God made me healthy, God KEEPS me healthy”, It’s His constant presence which ensures that fact! Thanks for reminding us of the accesibility of Christian Science, sharing your experience in awesome environment!

  5. Good work, Evan! Thank you for yet another example of how we all can counter the aggressive suggestions of error.

  6. Yes, indeed!
It was a pitch black winter evening. My sister and I were alone in the house. Dad was at church, our elder sister was staying with our granny, our younger brother was at boarding school. We’d finished our homework and were ready for bed. All the lights were out. I had the brilliant idea of groping in the dark, trying to catch each other. So there we were, crawling under beds or climbing over them, manouevering around chairs and desks, trying to grab or avoid each other. Suddenly, WAM!! My sister’s fist lands in my eye full force. I see stars. I find my way into my brother’s room, switch on the light and look in the mirror, only to see rainbow colours of a black eye appearing. Quickly. I turn off the light, remembering that. I’d learned in our Christian Science Sunday School, not to look at the picture, but, as Mary Baker Eddy states in Science and Health with key to the Scriptures, “Look away from the body into Truth and Love.” It came to me to say the scientific statement of being from the same book, read aloud at the end of every Sunday School session. It begins “There is no life, truth, intelligence, nor substance in matter. All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation” By the time I got to the end of it, there was no more pain, no discolouration. The healing was complete. Perfect God and perfect man. I was exhilarated by my first healing through my own prayers.
When Dad got home, I told him I wanted to share it at a testimony meeting, but was scared to stand up in front of all the people. He suggested I write it down and read it. At the Thanksgiving Day service, I gave my testimony and it was the start of many testimonies given by Sunday School pupils in our church! ( Also, having written it down, I didn’t need to read it, but spoke out freely)

  7. Joy, thanks so much for sharing your experience.
It’s such a beautiful demonstration that age has no bearing on the successful healing of Christian Science.

  8. I’d like to repeat a comment I made late yesterday thanking Charles O’Gorman’s for his reference to
MY 148:24-4 since he didn’t respond. I checked it out and especially liked Jesus command to “Go, and do thou likewise.” This is something we should all be doing, especially me!

  9. Thank you Evan, for the wonderful testimony. Yes, to be still, shut out error`s seeming noise, and listen to the still small voice, which can be as a lion roareth. I love this comparison, which Mrs. Eddy makes in Science and Health. And it is effective, as Evan`s testimony shows so convincingly. So desirable to do like this in case of need. But as we read here in SV, God is always with us. Thanks !
Thanks also for the foto of the huge “Reflecting Pool”. And thank you all for your helpful comments and for the lovely poem of Melissa. Am grateful for your comforting and healing SpiritView, Evan. 🙂

  10. As Elaine said, Excellent as always, Evan. A treatment for us all. Love your vlogs. Since I do not travel any longer I enjoy going on vacation with you and Kathy. Thank you for all you do.
