Govern yourself well today by living under the government of the one Mind.
When divine Mind is forming and shaping your thought, the outcome is very good. You make wise decisions that bring good effects.
The best self-government is the outcome of reflecting God’s government.
There is a lot of humility in this statement by Mrs. Eddy that Evan has written here. At times we make take the words ‘self-government’ too literally and think we have power to “do,” or to humanly control ourselves, others, situations/circumstances. But it sounds like the true self- government is the releasing of that kind of thinking, and having humbleness to submit ourselves to “our Maker, divine Truth and Love.” Let go and let God.

I am struggling to trust God’s government of all of my affairs: Spiritual, physical and financial. I tend to be a worrier always waiting for something to be resolved.
I know what you mean, Laurel. Life is not always easy, especially when trying
to see things through a more “material” viewpoint. Especially when it seems
there is so much disturbance of good and so-called evil vying for attention in
current circumstances with the world, seemingly in disarray with government.
But shining a spiritual light on the seeming struggles that we appear, mortally,
to be facing ….. puts a whole new perspective on things. It is like changing the
channel of, like the “news” being almost totally negative, to where things are
happening in a positive way. Those not tuned in to the positive, spiritual, seem
to be missing out on all of the good that is happening. The good is there, but
if we don’t tune in to it, in God’s way, we seem to miss out, even though in
Reality, there is all good, All God, The key is to, as Evan says, “reflect God’s
government”.

Dear Laurel, perhaps this hymn may help for you to let God govern:-

Yes, Uta, Thank you. God’s government working within us
and also within the various governments, collectively, in our
world, is what is important in acknowledging and seeing
at work in our lives. If the evil, greed, corruption, lies, etc.
of mortal mind are being corrected and eliminated in
thought, than we are letting in the true government of
the One Mind, that brings us and the world, a more
peaceful and harmonious outcome. Who wouldn’t want
that? “This material world is even now becoming the arena
for conflicting forces. On one side there will be discord and
dismay; on the other side there will be Science and peace.
The breaking up of material beliefs may seem to be famine
and pestilence, want and woe, sin, sickness, and death,
which assume new phases until their nothingness appears.
These disturbances will continue until the end of error, when
all discord will be swallowed up in spiritual Truth” (Mrs. Eddy)
You know folks, I was reflecting today upon things. Things such as hmm how come I feel so less than joyous” and other self-centred thoughts and in an instant i thought of Mary Baker Eddy and the trials she encountered out there on the fore-front of this. And she had to rely upon God, no books, blogs, etc. She was not alone because of her awareness of God, but she was “left alone to fend” with such mortal thoughts. And here I am with more than enough bounty of resources to access, having a wee pity party, when God slapped me upside the head with the revelation that Mary did it, so buck up, and get on with things. Well said John, good to remember that we’re truly blessed to have all the resources available to us to help us learn and grow in spiritual understanding, and Mrs. Eddy was ‘more than a conqueror,” relying only on the Bible and direct revelations from God.

Wonderful ideas about self- government today. It’s so important to see who is truly governing us, our country and the world-our loving Father- Mother who is just, fair, loving, merciful, equitable and honest, and intelligent. . These are the qualities that characterize true government and that is naturally reflected in man and the universe.
