The domino effect

December 2, 2015 | 12 comments

Have you ever felt small, like there isn’t anything you can do to improve the world around you? Not so! There is plenty you can do that may appear small at first, but if right, can trigger a chain reaction that leads to sweeping reform.

Below is a video that explains what I mean.

While watching, consider its lesson from a metaphysical perspective. What does it tell you about acting on a right idea, no matter how trivial it might seem at the moment?

“Domino chain reaction”

If a 5 millimeter domino can set a chain reaction into play that has the potential to topple the Empire State Building, think about the kind of effect you could be having on the world right now with your right thinking?

Enjoy.

  1. So my take away from this is that, “Though we may be small ourselves, relatively unknown to the world, our prayers and actions can have a significant impact on the experiential outcomes for others. Pausing to love our neighbor throughout our day, who in turn stops to love their neighbors throughout their day may have a domino affect on the world gaining from the energy held within the spirit of love. Thanks Evan, really interesting post.

  2. This is amazing! I never realized how the power of something small, like that, can have such an impact on such larger influences. What a great way to demonstrate how our thinking good thoughts Can and Do have the same energy to help and heal our world. Awesome!
Thank you, Evan and commenters… It just goes to show that our thinking Does make a difference! Have a great day everyone

  3. It’s amazing what can be accomplished by right thinking. Wrong thinking can destroy which is accepted now. Changing that false way of thinking can actually destroy all that’s being perpetuated. Being bedbound, thank God can not destroy the way we think. We can still move mountains of good, bedbound or not. ISN’T THAT WONDERFUL?

  4. This is amazing and demonstrates how one right thought can topple the biggest error!! Thanks Evan for showing how much good our thoughts can carry into the world.

  5. “Spiritual teaching must always be by symbols. Did not Jesus illustrate the truths he taught by the mustard-seed and the prodigal?”

From Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, by Mary Baker Eddy, page 575:13-16

  6. I’m a bit of a physics geek so I love this clip as it’s so fascinating, but I especially love the metaphysical lesson you brought out! Interesting to me that he said we provide the energy by lifting up/ standing up each domino against gravity, and that energy is then stored in the domino to be released when given the opportunity/ a nudge. Likewise, as we lift up a thought, as opposed to say remaining sucked down into the miasma of negativism, that “little” thought stands ready to unleash a magnitude of good…so each little thought counts!

  7. What a wonderful visual expression of how powerful one small positive thought can make a difference.
    Thanks!

  8. Hmmm this reminds me of
‘If you have faith as a grain of mustard seed……”
    guess what?..
    YEH you can “move MOUNTAINS”!
