“Adversity is like a strong wind. It tears away from us all but the things that cannot be torn, so that we see ourselves as we really are.”
~Arthur Golden
A mortal clings to his belongings, status and emotions, thinking they constitute his life, his happiness, his future. But they do not. The things of the Spirit are all that have significance in the long run, and they are the things that can never be taken from us, even by the worst of adversity.
Amen!
I love Arthur Golden’s golden words and Evan Mehlenbacher’s spiritual summary.
The Bible says that we should not store up things here on Earth that rust and that moths destroy, but instead store up treasures in Heaven. These words say the same thing. It is too bad that some will not heed them, ever.
