  1. I have never heard this quote before and I really appreciate it! It gives a sense of hope , that no matter what the difficulties, they can be overcome. Reminds me of Eddy’s statement in Scuence and Health to let neuther fear nor doubt overshadow your clear sense and calm trust that the recognition of life harmonious as life eternally is, can destroy any painful sense of or belief in that which life is not. The calm and patient and trusting thought destroys discordant obstacles!!

  2. Thanks, Evan! And here’s another famous quote that could go along with Adam’s idea: “Whatever you can do or believe you can, begin it. Boldness has genius, power and magic in it.” Goethe. Blessings to All!

  3. What a stunningly beautiful photograph – a promise of the spiritual beauty that we need to be patiently working to understand and embrace.

The quotation and photograph brings to mind Mary Baker Eddy’s citation from Science & Heath:

“Patience is symbolized by the tireless worm, creeping over lofty summits, persevering in its intent.”
    (SH 515:4-5)

  4. Thank you for this, Evan. It is as M.B. Eddy says in Miscellaneous Writings, page 340: “The lives of great men and women are miracles of patience and perseverence.” This quote has been daily in mind for some weeks now, accompanying me all the time.

  5. Thank you for the helpful quote! I needed to “hear” that in relation to some work I’m doing. I looked up some translations of Phil 2:12, and found this neat one: God “who makes you willing and gives you the energy to do what He wants.” (Translation by Beck) I wasn’t able to get to my computer the last couple of days and enjoyed reading those posts today.

  6. I noticed in the head lines written in smaller letters also the words disciplin and trust.

Yes patience goes along with discipline in thinking and acting christlike, and trusting fully in our loving Father-Mother God and this persistently. That leads in the end to liberating and healing results.

when I read this in the morning I did not know how to understand those words. But this evening when I read the additional words ,,discipline” and ,,trust” I understood what Evan wants to say with John Quincy Adams sentence in today’s SpiritView – thank you for it, dear Evan!

  7. Thanks Evan for this lovely post. The picture is amazing along with the lovely idea shared.
I am reminded of the Bible story where the woman patiently perseveres in her request to Jesus to heal her daughter and ultimately Jesus is so touched by her faith, patience and perseverance, that her daughter is healed. God always rewards us for our patience if we trust in Him and persevere, never giving up.

  8. Why patience and perserverance? Because their intention for good opens the way/vision to see/expect fresh possibilities for completion; NOT “magic” but Life, God, revealed in action.
