The power to be a good influence

“The good you do and embody gives you the only power obtainable.”

~ Mary Baker Eddy, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, p. 192

If you ever feel like no one listens to you, that you have no influence with important decision-making, or that your efforts to accomplish something significant keep failing, you can reverse that picture.

The power to do good comes from the good you embody.

Persuasive good comes from God in the form of pertinent wisdom, relevant understanding, helpful knowledge, keen insight, genuine care, truth, and healing love. As you keep human ego, such as pride and self-righteousness, out of the way and let these gifts from God speak through you, you will have something important to say. Your inspiration will grab other people’s attention, command a listening ear and contribute to progressive outcomes.

  1. Thank you Evan for such words of wisdom. God is the only ego, human ego has no place in the form of self-righteousness. I love this thought of letting these gifts from God speak through us: helpful understanding, wisdom, truth, and healing love. Have a Christ filled day everyone and we will all let our God inspired understanding shine through us.

  2. Thank you Evan for this quote by Mary Baker Eddy. It is one I have been thinking about a lot lately. It seems to me that all the upheaval and turmoil in the world is the aggressive mental suggestion of a belief in a power opposed to God calling itself evil saying, “I am real! I am powerful! I can’t be stopped!” It’s insistence is because it feels itself losing ground in human thought and so it’s claim to power grows louder as it is being destroyed.
When I asked God what part I can play in combating supposed evil in the world the answer came that I can be more insistent and active in doing good and prove God, good to be the only power. I have been actively looking for ways to do this. Another statement from Mrs. Eddy that also helps me is: “In the battle of life, good is made more industrious and persistent because of the supposed activity of evil. The elbowing of the crowd plants our feet more firmly.”

  3. What a lovely Truth. The power to do good comes from the good we embody.
Good is like a magnet…it draws everyone to you. All good comes from God. If our thoughts are constantly connected with the Divine, then there is no ego, no self will, and no self righteousness. There is only calm composure, balance in life, the keen desire to do good and bless everyone. All success is very naturally drawn to such a person and whatever he/she says is approved and implemented.
Thanks Evan for the lovely Truths you share.

  4. So deeply grateful for these wonderful posts. Thank you Karen for the Miscellaneous Writings quote. I will be living with that today. Most helpful.

  5. Thank you for this helpful reminder of Truth because it sometimes seems that sin can have power and try to wreck havoc in the world,, but that is not what God created, so it cannot be true! The ultimate power always belongs to Love and
Principle, which are synonyms for God. Thanks again and to all who shared!

  6. Thank you for all your comments. “Promise of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen”.
Peace and Love to all God’s children.
