The quest of life

August 19, 2019 | 19 comments

If you’re ever wondering what to do with your life, or what is worth seeking, set your sights on understanding God.

The highest quest possible is to know God.

God is the sum and substance of all that exists. Everything real and true is in God. Anything worth having is of God. Any good worth experiencing, is found in God.

To understand God is to understand reality, how the world works, how the universe is put together, and why things happen the way they do.

To understand God is to understand life, why one exists and one’s reason for being.

To know God is to find real happiness, the kind that lasts and is never taken from you.

To know God is to find health and strength.

To know God is to find peace.

To know God, is to know Love.

To know God, is to know everything one needs to know to live the best life possible. There is no higher goal to reach, no higher aim to set, no better understanding to gain, than knowing God.

When you have God, you “have it all.”

  1. “God is Love.” More than this we cannot ask, higher we cannot look, farther we cannot go.” S&H 6:17 … and all the other synonyms and attributes of God. “God” really fills all space and who would need any more. Thank you Evan for our daily feast.

  2. This is such a compliment to my lesson study this week. I love it! Thank you thank you thank you when you have God you have it all. I have it all!!!

  3. Thank you Evan, answered my question that came to me last night.
What a joy to look forward in seeing God’s goodness everywhere.
    Knowing that’s the only real.

  4. I was standing at the kitchen sink moments ago pondering this very question. Now as I read this blog, I’m sitting here, listening to the blue jays screech just beyond the open window, knowing that they are led through their activities of life without question, utterly relying on God’s direction. So, I must know that I Am being led as well. Usually when I feel ration and reason elbowing their way into my consciousness, it’s because the porter has taken leave of the door and I’d better start screeching like a bluejay to get it back in place! Thank you, Evan for this right on time message.

  5. Yes, I Love this morning’s message, thank you so much… and I also love the idea
that when we know God as Love, Mind, Truth, Life….. we cannot stop expressing it which means we are now in the business of helping people, animals and the earth. “about my Father’s business” <3 <3

  6. Yes, yes, yes. Thank you for this wonderful inspiration. Getting to know God and the allness of him is what I am striving for. God is Love.

  7. I am in Spain walking the last 71 miles of the Camino. I came with the intention of walking as a spiritual pilgrim. Even though I did not train nearly enough, according to human wisdom, my first day was 13.9 miles, mostly up hill, and very hot and I prayed my way through it. I am the oldest member of my group of 6 and everyone was very proud of me for being able to do it. I just kept holding to spiritual Truth of who I am and I did fine. We were all tired and happy when we got to our hotel.
Today was only 7 miles, cool, and through beautiful countryside. However, I walked with a partner and was not walking with the mindful praying as much and I am feeling soreness. I continue to pray to understand God, know the Truth and demonstrate God’s Good, harmony and Peace. Your prayers would be appreciated.

    1. A hymn that has helped me in the past re walking is 324 (Take my life and let it be etc) but especially where it says “take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for Thee” – so not swollen or sore but beautiful expressions of activity and painless progress. I am singing it with you! Much love.

    2. Dear Theodora, wow, what a wonderful experience for you. In case you don’t have the whole hymn #139, I will print it here.

I walk with Love along the way, And O, it is a holy day; No more I suffer cruel fear, I feel God’s presence with me here; The joy that none can take away Is mine, I walk with Love today.

Who walks with Love along the way, Shall talk with Love and Love obey; God’s healing truth is free to all, Our Father answers every call; ‘Tis He dispels the clouds of gray That all may walk with Love today.

Come, walk with Love along the way, Let childlike trust be yours today; Uplift your thought, with courage go, Give of our heart’s rich overflow, And peace shall crown your joy-filled day. Come, walk with Love along the way.

I remember when I was touring Germany my feet swelled up after a day of walking. I didn’t know how I was going to go on another walking adventure the next day, thinking it was only going to get worse. Well I prayed that evening knowing that it was a right activity and I couldn’t suffer from it. I also prayed with the Scientific Statement of Being from Science and Health on page 468 and other helpful ideas that came to me when I listened for God’s angel thoughts. The next morning my feet were still swollen but I headed out for that days activity and as I walked and the day went on, I found the swelling lessening, instead of getting worse! By the end of the day my feet were back to normal. So don’t let soreness or whatever dictate what you can do. If it is a right activity you can do it with God at your side. And expect only a good “side” effect! Godspeed (=

  8. You are walking with God Theodora, never separated whether you were consistantly praying or not. “All is infinite Mind and its infinite manifestation for God is all in all” MBE S&H pg 468.

  9. Wonderful! Thank you Evan for your daily lessons. So grateful for you sharing your understanding. I start my day with the Bible Lesson, your blog (with all those comments), and the Daily Lift. So grateful to Mrs. Eddy for Christian Science.

  10. Starting my day with the Daily Lift – because I get it first in my mailbox. Then I read the weekly lesson and then I study SpiritView, as it is coming later in the morning in my inbox. It’s all spiritual preparation for God’s Day with me.
Evan, I love your today’s SpiritView very much, thanks a lot for it. It is the most important goal and highest quest knowing God. And as Evan says, “there is no higher goal to reached, no higher aim to set, no better understanding to gain than knowing God.” I am eager learning to know God more and better. Studying the seven synonyms of God from Science and Health given us by Mary Baker Eddy helps a lot to understand the asolute allness of God, wonderful!
Thank you Evan, for today’s most important lesson! Am grateful for every blessing SpiritView!

  11. This is awe-inspiring and magnificent in its scope and depth. Makes me want to say: “Thank you God, for being God!” I am so happy with my decision to be a new subscriber.

  12. Love this and wish Icould print it to take to my sister.
The hymn suggested # 324 very inspiring and helpful to me.
Grateful for all the input as well as Evan’s I view.
