The role of gratitude for feeling God’s presence

December 1, 2021 | 19 comments

If you’re ever wondering how to feel more of God’s presence, start with gratitude! Gratitude is the open door from where you are to the presence of abundance, health, happiness, and good health coming from God.

I share ideas on how to be more grateful every day, and the blessings that flow from living with gratitude.

This vlog was filmed in the Great Basin National Park, Nevada, in May 2021.

  1. I love the thought that gratitude and God’s presence go together. I hadn’t actually
thought of it like that – and that is very helpful. Thank you Evan. And I always enjoy
the beautiful scenery you include – such gratitude to God for His wonderfully beautiful
creation. This beauty can be experienced in many different ways, especially when
we, God’s ideas, are reflecting all the beautiful qualities of God and we can recognise
it in our fellow man and creatures.

  2. Ps 100:4 Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise.
Psalms says it all! Thank you Evan for reminding us.

  3. Evan, I love your vlogs. The scenery is always so beautiful and your words are so comforting. The best thing is that I can feel the presence of God’s goodness. Thank you and my fellow members of our SpiritView family for sharing their healing thoughts and experiences.

  4. Thank you Evan. There are so many things to be grateful for every day. Practicing it every day helps us when bad things seem to try and take our joy away from us. Thank you everyone for your sharing. This blog is truly a blessing.

  5. Evan, I agree with Virginia, the visual in your vlogs brings home your message of the day, they are lovely. Based on a suggestion from a commenter a couple of weeks ago I too am making a daily gratitude list of at least 3 things. Any time I see God being expressed. Not necessarily to me but to others that I maybe don’t even know. It could be as simple as seeing someone wait and wave a car out of a parking spot with a big smile. I am finding it awakens me and makes me acknowledge God’s goodness all around. When we give thanks it is for the past, present and future perfection of all that God is, and it can’t help but bless us. “All that I have is thine” (Luke 15:31) is the response of Love that covers every need.

  6. I am the place where God shines through,
For He and I are one, not two.
He wants me where, and as I am,
I need not fret, nor fear, nor plan.
If I will be relaxed and free
He’ll carry out his work through me.

It is, I am the place … not will I be , or when will I be.
    That is cause for gratitude.

I might have sent it before, but many days this poem comes to thought., am I the place this minute, all day?
Of course, God is doing the shining.
Do not know who the author is.

    1. Thanks for reminding me of this lovely poem, I use to say it often but had forgotten it, it is so powerul. Thank you, Beth

  7. When I listen to some of the fantastic music I have (NOT BY me BTW!) I always feel SO grateful for the way all these singers, composers and musicians have been inspired by and sensitive to God’s creation in life, to create sound that makes us feel so good!

  8. I was listening to the bird singing in the background as Evan spoke in his blog. I love the fact that birds begin singing BEFORE the sun rises, joyfully expressing themselves , naturally❤️ And so should we! We need not wait for the light to shine, but know it will come as we feel grateful— and, as Evan said— we can begin with the smallest things, such as “I’m awake again! I can think, & see, & hear!”
    So grateful
    Love

    1. I love this thought about birds singing BEFORE the sun rises. Thanks for sharing it Annie! It reminds me of S&H p. 240, where Mrs. Eddy talks about “Nature voices natural, spiritual law and divine Love…and that they all point to Mind, the spiritual intelligence they reflect…”.

  9. When I began reading today’s post I thought it sounded very familiar. I looked back and saw that it also appeared last week on Nov. 24.

At first a mortal thought said, oh it’s the same one again, but then I quickly realized that a powerful message like this bears repeating again and again and again. And the thoughts and comments stimulated will be totally different today than the other day, as we hear it with fresh ears. I myself got a new understanding today when reading/listening to this message. I saw that the reason gratitude always makes us feel sooo good and so free is because it makes us think of WHO we’re grateful to. It makes that connection. Thanks everyone, blessed day!

    1. Some messages we need to hear over and over again don’t we? Especially reminders to express gratitude and especially after Thanksgiving when the human tendency can be “to move on from that.”

  10. Wonderful, Evan–and so true! I am delighted to take this “charge” to be grateful–and to express God’s grace and love everywhere today–thank you!

  11. Thanks as always, Evan!
Thanks also to Rose., I too knew it was very familiar. It has set me on a new path. I’d say Evan could repeat this once a month.

  12. This Vlog and the Annie’s comments reminded me of a favorite poem titled Before the Dawn by Lyle M. Crist in the July 3, 1976 CS Sentinel.

  13. I love the part about being grateful for the abundance of good we aren’t yet aware of, but is already there. Life is Good! Life is harmonious. Evil is nothing. This is reality and we can open our spiritual eyes to see it all around us.
