The satisfied man

Are you a satisfied creature? You can be.

Real satisfaction is spiritual. It’s an understanding of one’s completeness in Spirit where there is no lack. And you can have this experience now!

Unfortunately, mortals are educated to believe they need something material before they can be satisfied. And so they search for the elusive joy through material accumulation, acquisition or sensation. Perhaps it comes in the form of, “Just a little more money and I’ll be happy,” or suggestions that they need to move to another place, eat more food, buy more clothes, find another mate, or retire. And the list of what it takes to be happy can be endless.

As the wise sage wrote, “Those who love money [ie food, clothes, popularity, attention, time, selfish-indulgence] will never have enough. How meaningless to think that wealth [food, fame, toys, etc.…] brings true happiness!” Eccl. 5:10, NLT).

The never-ending search for happiness in matter can be stopped and replaced with a higher understanding of what truly constitutes satisfaction.

Satisfaction is not an acquisition to be found in the future. Satisfaction is spiritual mindedness. It’s about knowing one has everything spiritually they need to be genuinely happy from within.

This doesn’t mean one has to go without appropriate human provision. It means getting first things first. Once you find genuine satisfaction within, the other issues in life have a way of falling into place beautifully so that human needs are met appropriately, but without the strain and stress that come from believing one always lacks.

In Spirit, one is always supplied! This is a demonstrable truth on earth.

God’s man is spiritual. He is a complete creature. He does not lack. He is satisfied. This is the real you.

  1. Once one recognizes the real man, spiritual, whole, capable and free from want and woe, the beauty of his/her spirituality shines bring comfort to all encountered. I think this is our real purpose whatever other roles we take in life. Thank you Evan for this reminding post to our true selves. I am looking forward to you message later today.

  2. Thanks for this Truth, Evan! “May I with this be satisfied and glory in Thy name…..” (C.S. Hymn) Gratitude for all Good in God’s spiritual kingdom!

  3. Satisfaction is always found to be withen. More money, the winning of the Lottery, Finding the right mate, possessing more material things, satisfaction will only be found as a fleeting phenonanon, never a true happiness. Only with spiritual understanding can one gain true satisfaction.

  4. This has been a stupendous week of SpiritView blog posts from you! Thank you VERY much!

This one in particular hits home with me as I’ve come to the conclusion recently that every issue humanity suffers from is really just an unsatisfied longing for something they think they lack. For example, on Monday I posted a comment that included a link to a testimony where it was explained that someone was healed of stroke-like symptoms when the practitioner that was called detected a need to realize that man is totally enveloped in God’s Mothering love and did just that! Perhaps this idea of lack being the source of all suffering was why Mrs. Eddy devoted the first six pages of the chapter “Christian Science Practice” to explaining how a true Christian Science healer binds up the broken-hearted, is patient, sympathetic, and loving to those in need.

I think everyone that follows this blog would benefit greatly from praying daily with this blog posting today, every day, for a week or so. If you think I’m suggesting to use this as some prayer “formula” you are misinterpreting what I’m suggesting. I’m actually suggesting that each one quietly listen to God to uncover something they think they lack and then do prayerful treatment to realize the falsity of that suggestion. For example, if you are suffering from some type of sickness, perhaps it would come to you to realize that God’s Mothering love radiates health to each of His/Her beloved ideas, completely satisfying each person’s need for health. If suffering from a fear of death, perhaps it would come to you to realize that God is Life and since man reflects God, man can never cease to express Life. If suffering from a relationship problem, perhaps it would come to you to get a better understanding of God as the One Mind that each of His individual ideas reflect in perfect harmony. Et cetera, et cetera, et cetera…

It would be interesting to me to hear back from the folks that try this to see how they were benefited by it.

  5. Thank you, Evan, for challenging me to think and be honest. I perceive that I have come to view the state of “satisfied” as reduced in value to “accepting what we deserve” or ” fitting for us” but I now believe God is never less than delighted and joyous, and so should I!

  6. Thank you so much. Was speaking with a friend this morning about being whole and complete. His friend was caught in a border dispute and shot 20 times. He was a student of CS. All he could think of were verses from the Bible and S&H. This man had that “one moment” of divine consciousness that not only saved his human life but transformed the thinking of his enemies. After hearing the story I was immediately satisfied that my studies and practice not only bless me but the world. Fear and ignorance would dictate that we can never achieve such a state of satisfactions.
