Sure we have to give up the old for the new… Giving up of anything is not easy though… To adopt the spiritual way of life, we need to give up the material way….Otherwise its not possible to embrace spirituality and reality…”Entirely separate from the belief and dream of material living is life divine, revealing spiritual understanding and the consciousness of man’s dominion over the whole earth.”
I remember in one of the lectures that I attended, the lecturer so beautifully mentioned that you can not cross the river by putting one leg in one boat and the other leg in another boat..So there can not be two powers spiritual and material…There is only one power, one reality and that is the spiritual reality… So the faster we leave the old line of thought and take up the new, its better for our growth and progress in the right direction.
One has to let go of the old in order to embrace the new. The spiritual and new path only leads to eternal happiness. Thanks Evan.
Thanks Nergish for your thought from a lecture. We must be single minded. Leaving the old for the new can be a challenge, but what blessings await us when we do.
When we are willing to “give up” the old, a NEW IDEA is brought to the Light, which may not have been seen while “holding on” to the old. Our Father/Mother God is so filled with Eternal, All Good for us, His Beloved children, we never need to worry about what’s next, Knowing, as we have the right to know, a New day and a glorious new experience is just waiting to be seen, unwrapped and followed through on….I call it “another magic carpet ride”…Thank you Father/Mother Love, always available and with a right motive, a new direction and a new plan for each of us ….DailyCaydee
That proverb from Peter Drucker reminds me at the following bible Vers from Matthew 9:17 “no one puts new wine (Spiritual ideas) into old wineskins (materiality), for the old skins would burst .. New wine is stored in new wineskins (spiritual mindednes), so that both are preserved” – from the NLT Bible. May be that would suit to the above sentence from PD.
Thats my comment today, and I hope it is understandable, what I mean.
Thank you, dear Evan, that yu make us think about such simple utterances more deeper 🙂
Thanks for the great thought! I learned that if you want a friend, companion, etc., you need to express the qualities yourself (kindness, good humor, caring, etc.) that you desire to have in a friend, and—voila’— the right one will appear in your life.
Hi Daphne, first I did not see a relevance of your comment to the quote of PD. But when I think a bit about your comment, I think I understand what you mean – thank you.
Of course you must first put off old, perhaps ungodly qualities and change to godlike qualities, and then you have God as your best friend 😉
Love it. Who says one can’t change? It’s imperative we do according to this.

Sometimes the complete idea can be best expressed simply as this quote from Peter Drucker. Thank you Evan. Good start to a good day.

Or, in other words that just came to me:
“If you want [TO BE] someone new, you have to stop [BEING] someone old.”
:-}
Succinct but true, Evan! Diane, isn’t inspiration fun!? Your comment reminds me of our dear Father’s sense of humor- gentle and true!
Thank you :-)!
