What does God look like

August 9, 2010 | 5 comments

A little girl was busy drawing at her desk in the back of her second grade classroom. The teacher was curious what picture was being created so she wandered to the back of the room. She looked over the busy youngster’s shoulder and asked, “What are you drawing?”

The little one replied, “I’m drawing God.”

“Really,” the teacher responded, “but no one knows what God looks like.”

The little girl stopped a split second, thought a moment, and then started to draw again.

Without missing a beat she said to her teacher, “Well, they’ll know in a few minutes.”

Aw, through the perspective of a child…

God is Spirit, and Spirit defies any outline a pencil can ever draw, but the unwillingness of a little one like the above to accept that what she is doing is impossible is a quality we all can benefit from. “With God, all things are possible,” Jesus Christ reminded us.

I’d be curious to see what the little one’s picture looked like…

  1. having no material elements.

We can see what God “looks” like with our spiritual eyes!

    I love this, don’t you?!

    :<))

  2. Oops! My (previous) comment was split in two, due to length, and the first part got deleted.

Oh well, you got enough of it!

    :<))

  3. Hmm – we are God’s image and likeness – so we look like kindness, intelligence, love, activity, joy, abundance, health etc. We all know WHAT those look like!! ;~)
