  1. “A New Year’s Thought” which chimes in with Evan’s message comes from a poem by Mary Lilias Best:

    “Ring out the old, ring in the new
    Ring out the false, ring in the true.”
    So sing the joy bells at this New Year’s tide
    And in those words, to each and all
    There comes a message echoing far and wide.

    Ring out the pride, the hatred, and self-will
    The thoughts of malice which contain
    The poison that doth sting and wound and kill,

    And let the love of self no longer stay
    Deny it, and declare it naught
    Then, to the love of Christ it will give way.

    Ring in the thoughts of peace, good-will and love
    The love for God and man alone
    And on our hearts will rest the heavenly dove,

    O may this message ringing from the tower
    Be heard by all! And let us then
    Not only once a year, but every hour
    “Ring out the old, ring in the new
    Ring out the false, ring in the true.”

    (from the Christian Science Sentinel of January 3, 1901)

    Wishing dear Evan and the SpiritView family, an abundantly blessed new year!

    1. Love this poem….Guess i don’t understand one line though…
      “The Love for God and man alone”…

      any ideas? ……….Thank you

  2. Thank you, Evan, and all lovely Commenters, and more to Come! A Brand New Year in which to make some new decisions, new resolutions, new changes! One of the things I have decided to really work on this Year is to not let my self worth be dependent on what others think of me….or to base my Life Choices on what I think others would approve of. Also, to not think and act as if I am personally responsible for members of my Family, that I NEED to take care of them….or they won’t survive…. In other words….to really Love and Honor Myself and My Relationship with God and to know that Others, too, have this same relationship with God, if they so choose to cultivate it. Onward and Upward, Everyone! Let’s create a Year of Good and of Progress! Already Lovin’ 2017!!!!

    1. Bevi, this is good food for thought….and it seems to follow that in releasing ourselves from “false responsibility” with our family and friends we release them to the glory of their individual reflection of Gods creation……A very, very loving act , indeed……

  3. Thank you Shireen for that inspiring and lovely poem, you posted us.
    Thank you very much Evan for those short but very clear and uplifting words to start into the new year!

    1. Chrissie….I love the word “Grace”…. methinks it is one of the most beautiful ideas and if one is in a state of it….they know Gods Love…..

  4. Going from Spiritview to another “Typical” news site shocked me in a funny way this morning….
    Good ole mortal mind trying to make us think there are two realities……
    ….Don Quixote vanquishing imaginary windmills or Scientist with staff and rod in hand “nothing-izing” untruth…….false reality……
    What could be more fun…..I really mean that….this Great and Holy Work is enjoyable…..

  5. What a wonderful start into the new year. Thank you Evan and Shireen thank you for poem and reference to 1828 Webster’s Dictionary. Happy New Year 2017 to all.

  6. Thank you, Evan, for those few powerful words from Tennyson. At the risk of taking up a lot of space, here is the original poem – a favorite of mine, and very metaphysical. Every year, I see a different thought that seems especially a propos; this year, after the contentious USA presidential election and what the CS Monitor termed “A Year of Disruption” worldwide, I honed in on stanzas 4 and 6. A blessed New Year to all!

    In Memoriam, [Ring out, wild bells]
    Lord Alfred Tennyson, 1809 – 1892

    Ring out, wild bells, to the wild sky,
    The flying cloud, the frosty light:
    The year is dying in the night;
    Ring out, wild bells, and let him die.

    Ring out the old, ring in the new,
    Ring, happy bells, across the snow:
    The year is going, let him go;
    Ring out the false, ring in the true.

    Ring out the grief that saps the mind
    For those that here we see no more;
    Ring out the feud of rich and poor,
    Ring in redress to all mankind.

    Ring out a slowly dying cause,
    And ancient forms of party strife;
    Ring in the nobler modes of life,
    With sweeter manners, purer laws.

    Ring out the want, the care, the sin,
    The faithless coldness of the times;
    Ring out, ring out my mournful rhymes
    But ring the fuller minstrel in.

    Ring out false pride in place and blood,
    The civic slander and the spite;
    Ring in the love of truth and right,
    Ring in the common love of good.

    Ring out old shapes of foul disease;
    Ring out the narrowing lust of gold;
    Ring out the thousand wars of old,
    Ring in the thousand years of peace.

    Ring in the valiant man and free,
    The larger heart, the kindlier hand;
    Ring out the darkness of the land,
    Ring in the Christ that is to be.

  7. G from CA, how fitting is this whole poem, and how sweet to read a poet’s (Tennyson’s) lovely words. Many thanks. You ALL contribute such meaningful additions to Evan’s inspirations.

  8. Thank you Evan and Shireen! What beautiful and inspiring thoughts and words. Thank you everyone who continues to share.

  9. Fyi: Yesterday’s SV Posts continued awhile, and were “meaty!”

    Love this one, too, and the Comments. Maximo! Don Quixote Chasing Windmills!
    CSers vanquishing Error into the nothingness it is! Good one.
