You don’t have to keep up with the Joneses

Do you ever feel like you’re less than successful, at least compared to your neighbor?
Maybe your peers are earning more money than you are, bought a more luxurious car, moved into a bigger home, sent their children to private school, got a promotion you didn’t get, or look all around better off in the world than you do.
Well guess what? It doesn’t matter.
It doesn’t matter how much money your best friend earns, how big their house is, or what car they drive. Material possessions, accoutrements, earnings, position, status and prestige are temporal, and as nothing to God. They don’t even get one line’s notice on the balance sheet you hand over when seeking entrance to heaven.
What really counts is the spiritual life you are living. How is that going? That’s what matters in the long run and to God.

Are you growing spiritually? Are you finding deeper peace, more inspiration, sounder health, closeness to God? If so, then you are very successful. You’ve discovered the most important things, and the substance of enduring happiness, health and well-being.
Stay steadfast with the spiritual, and prosper! You’ll be happiest in the long run.

  1. That’s exactly what is happening in the entertainment business. Divorce is rampant due to the other spouses successes. What a crock this is. It’s stupid and childish. Why! If my wife made more than me, I would support her as much as I can. I have a saying that I made up myself. “I love my wife/husband as if they were my daughter/son.” THINK OF IT; AN ATTITUDE SUCH AS THIS, DIVORCE WOULD BE UNKNOWN.”
