I close my eyes in order to see.
~ Paul Gauguin, French painter and sculptor
Vision is spiritual. To see what exists in Spirit, we cannot be attempting to see those realities in matter.
The view is blurry in matter. The scene is crystal clear in Spirit.
Wonderful in-sight!
Mrs Eddy wrote, “No evidence before the material senses, can close my eyes to the spiritual proof that God, good is supreme”
Thank you Evan
Beannachd ♡
that s a wonderful quote in response to Evan`s Spiritview, Shelagh.. It s from Mis Writings p 277 isn t it ? thank you gillian ( England ! )
I appreciate this quote Shelagh It reminds me of something I think of often: Nothing can change the Facts of Being — that God is All. Regardless of what it looks like to mortal eyes.
Closing our eyes to material suggestions brought to mind this quote “….when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father….”(Matthew 6:6). Shutting the door on material sense to then see with spiritual sense.
Blessings and thanks to all today!
A brilliant quotation – inspired painters and sculptors look deeply at things, and saw something
of the qualities behind what they were depicting. So we are taught in Science to follow Jesus
who saw the real spiritual man, where mortal man sees only what the material senses are
showing. He literally blotted out of his thoughts the false sense of things – he knew it
wasn’t what God was expressing, for God is all good and creates everyone perfect in His
likeness.
So this quotation also comes to my mind:
Rise in the conscious strength of the spirit of Truth to overthrow the plea of mortal mind, alias matter, arrayed against the supremacy of Spirit. Blot out the images of mortal thought and its beliefs in sickness and sin. Then, when thou art delivered to the judgment of Truth, Christ, the judge will say, “Thou art whole!” (S&H p. 390:32)
This reminds me of how Saul had to have his physical eyes closed (temporarily blinded to the material scene) to properly open his spiritual eyes to see Jesus message and the Truth
Thanks Diane for pointing that out
Thank you for this, especially at this time, for myself and the world. We are all so busy watching local and global news, it’s easy to get feeling “lost” or completely overwhelmed in it all, especially when you add in personal journeys in employment, finances, proper place of home and family challenges. Knowing that, None of these things move me, as I close my eyes and pray and listen quietly for answers for myself and all my sisters and brothers and creatures and our planet! We are all One in Love, as we listen and watch together. God bless us, everyone.
Thanks “Still Learning” for your so true comment. Everything in our thought is about our wellbeing what is naturally alright. However sometimes it closes our eyes for the greater needs of our brothers’ and sisters’ great need for help, having lost home and.family through war or extreme flood or whatever need there might be. Help is Love, and that love far away from those happenings is deep prayer for all God’s children in great need, knowing they are fully and lovingly cared for by our one omnipresent and omipotent loving divine Father-Mother God. Mrs. Eddy admonishes us to pray daily earnestly for ourselve. That is most important because then we are able to pray wholeheartedly for the world’s needs. It’s wonderful we learn in Christian Science to love our neighbors as ourselves and there begins prayer for the world.
Dear Evan, thank you for SpiritView! ♡
A few years ago when I was Second Reader, my First Reader lamented the fact that so many people had their eyes closed during our services. He seemed to feel it was a lack of attention. I often closed my eyes during service when I wasn’t reading. For me, it shut out the material world…no looking out the window, no thinking about the reader’s necklace or shirt or furnishings in the church. I would be totally absorbed in the lesson.
Thank you, Pam. We need not judge others by our own opinions. We need our eyes shut.
Perfect! This is exactly what I need today. Thanks so much to Evan and all who have responded this morning, and I look forward to reading more inspiring comments.
I will pray to see divine Love encircling the earth, including “me, and mine, and all.”
Grateful for lesson today. And the quote from page 277….however we
Can’t go around with our eyes closed,. I try to be open to the good
which is ever present and always unfolding to us the right step to take.”
“Wait patiently for God and He will direct thy path” Sometimes the
Patient waiting is the hardest. Thanks again all Spiritviewers and Evan
Thanks SO much. I’m working on “discernment” – seeing as God sees. This is very helpful today, as always. Thanks, Evan!
‘What are we Seeing?’:

Thank you so much Angie for the link to the Sentinel article. The last paragraph of the article is such a beautiful Scientific statement. So grateful for your contributions. And for the contributions of all to Evan’s remarkable gift.
So grateful for this Evan and all the helpful comments /articles it has brought to us today.
When my Father was in hospital ( not CS) with my Mother at his bed side , she heard the nurses say
‘How could she go to sleep at this time!’ Little did they know she was shutting out the material picture to concentrate on the Spiritual❣️
Wonderful and inspiring comments! Thank you everyone! It seems as soon as we open our eyes in the morning we are bombarded and distracted by material sense. So helpful to immediately take a higher view with spiritual sense, and see ourselves as ONE with God, looking out from divine Mind’s vantage point. Then asking God throughout the day, “what are you seeing?” and know that we are all His/Her reflection of perfection – and that is my only perception. Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend.
Thank you all for your comments – J’s thoughts of perception, perfection, reflection we could make into the refrain of a song titled inspiration.
“Open Mine Eyes that I Might See” comes immediately to mind, The song lyrics, sung out loud are a favorite of mine.
Thank you, Evan and all! This is just what I need to remember. We are God’s reflection. Looking at ourselves in a mirror does not show us our true identity. Love and blessings…
Yes dear Chilesands, that is what I pray from time to time , dear Father-Mother God, open though mine eyes that I see the wonders of They law. And when I drive to church and later back home again in darkness I pray with clear understanding of the truth: “divine Love inspires, enlightens , designates and leads the way.” That all helps to see the way with the clarity of divine Mind. How thankful am I being lead by God to this blessing teaching!
When I read up here that Christ Jesus saw the perfect man where mortals saw the mortal man, in that sense., I think with how wonderful christa clarity Jesus must have discerned the real man, that he could heal instantaniously and completely.
I am grateful that Mrs. Eddy gave us the teaching of CS through her great works and writings through which we can learn to follow Jesus in teaching and healing.
Wow Evan, what a wonderful gift we receive daily from you with your precious SpiritView and the inspiring comments resulting thereof, though it is sometimes only a few inspiring sentenses. Thank you very much for it, dear Evan!♡
Just read the passage of today’s SpiritView again. I think mainly it is meant not to see wars and catastrophs and mortel sinning man, but after opening eyes again, seeing what Christ Jesus saw namely God’s spiritual harmonious universe and man created in the image and likeness of the Father-Mother God, healthy, loving and kind. This is most desirable, am working on it.
– happy weekend to all – ♡
News today is less likely to get my time and waste it. Thanks be to Evan and our Leader MBE, Jesus the Christ, for our GLORIOUS C. S.. and all the comfort.
