In distinguishing between material sense and spiritual sense, Mary Baker Eddy writes, “What is termed material sense can report only a mortal temporary sense of things, whereas spiritual sense can bear witness only to Truth” (Science and Health, p. 298).
Material sense focuses on matter, on symptoms of disease, on fears and worries.
Material sense is not your friend. Spiritual sense is your friend.
Spiritual sense is your native ability to think spiritually and entertain messages of Truth and Love coming from God.
For the best results, tune into spiritual sense. Shut down material sense. Hear what God has to say and let the ministering presence of Truth heal you.

What we are doing , essentially is dismissing/ negating the ME to replace it with the reality of the I AM, the all encompassing Truth. Revealing the Christ /Love as our being brings harmonious action to man.

Thank you Evan and Barbara! I have to share that when I first read your comment, Barbara, I read “ME” as an abbreviation, thinking about what it could stand for and came up with “material evidence”. I’m not sure if that is the play on words you meant, but that stood out to me—ME in the sense of human self = material evidence, which is always error.

Spiritual sense is dawning more and more into a perfect day, as thought
becomes more tuned in to God’s precious Love for us, we, all, of his
perfect creations. How beautiful is that! Thank you so much dear Evan,
and everyone for the wonderful expressions of this spiritual sense that
gently rests upon thought with all it’s beauty and power. Step by step
we emerge from the mortal dream shadows and realize we are surrounded
by this ever presence of Love and that is such an enlightening and divine
awakening.

we crawl before we begin to walk and our spiritual senses are like that..
where we learn what is really important in Life/God’s Love for us no matter
what the mortal senses Seem to be. In Footsteps of Truth (S&H#239),
Mrs. Eddy reminds us, “To ascertain our progress, we must learn where our
affections are placed and whom we acknowledge and obey as God. If divine
Love is becoming nearer, dearer, and more real to us, matter is then submitting
to Spirit. The objects we pursue and the spirt we manifest reveal our standpoint,
and show what we are winning”.
Spiritual sense is our very best Friend, our Life, our Soul, our Spirit, our Mind,
our Principle, our Truth, our Love…All synonyms for God (as Mrs. Eddy defines
them).
It’s important to know who our friends are.
Evan says, “Material sense is not your friend. Spiritual sense is your friend.” How true.
A while back a children’s animated video was shared here on SV (believe it was J who shared) that showed the charming idea of Spiritual Reality Goggles. We symbolically put on our goggles and then everything we see comes into sharp focus as it truly is, as God creates and sees His world. I want to remember this tool whenever things start seeming to appear wrong or inharmonious in any way.

OH what a day it is…. words of a song, come to thought.
Healing, unexpected, on Saturday, Sunday. After grocery shopping with my own bags on Saturday, I noticed on Saturday night without my zipper credit sized soft pouch. Spent Saturday evening freezing all the accounts which were represented in the zipper purse. Wrote a list of all (multiple) cards/accounts which were missing, matching them to the file with file pictures of all the cards seemingly missing.
Sunday, at church, I was early, to open the auditorium, prepare the desk/organ/Sunday School for the upcoming service. On top of the filing cabinets, in the room outside the Sunday school,sat my soft pouch containing all the credit cards and business cards greeted me from the top of the filing cabinet, on my way to the Sunday School.
Praised God, felt warmth and enveloped with Love, to discover the coin purse, and all the personal items were present, safe, and secure.
The night before, on Saturday, I prayed quietly, with determination, and the senses quieted but the Truth was fully evident, repeating every one of the Beatitudes, aka the blesseds, especially “Blessed are the pure in heart for they shall see GOD.”
The result was obvious, nothing was stolen, missing, nor damaged, used fraudulently nor destroyed/stolen/picked up out of place/ outside God’s supreme guidance and loving care. nor control. LOVE those Beatitudes, healing message direct from GOD. Celebrated on Sunday!!!
The timing of this demonstration placed more LOVE, love, l o v e for the Truth as explained in Christian Science ! God is present everywhere, at every instant, I Thank GOD
