The past doesn’t limit the present

If you ever regret something you did yesterday, fearing that it limits the good you experience today, take heart.  That feeling can be fixed!

You are a spiritual being.  Everything you need to thrive and prosper is coming directly to you from God today.

It doesn’t matter what you did yesterday.

What you did yesterday does not determine what you can be today.

Time doesn’t limit eternity.  Matter doesn’t limit Spirit.  Error doesn’t limit Truth.  Yesterday does not define today.

Let yesterday go.  Move ahead with today.

Let today be God’s Day, a day filled with abundance, health and happiness coming from above.

The past does not limit the present when you live the present with God.

  1. Abide not in the realm of dreams, / O man, however fair it seems; / But with clear eye the present scan, / And hear the call of God and man.

Think not in sleep to fold thy hands, / Forgetful of thy Lord’s commands: / From duty’s claims no life is free, / Behold, today hath need of thee.

The present hour allots thy task, / For present strength and patience ask; / And trust His love whose sure supply / Meets all thy need abundantly.
    (Christian Science Hymnal, No. 6:1–3)

  2. Every day is like a clean slate. We can leave the mortal sense of
things behind. To keep looking at the past is like driving a car
and always looking in the rear view mirror. By doing so, we miss
the upcoming joys ahead of us, by reliving and dwelling on the
past. Sometimes looking back does help us see how far we have
come, though, and that can be a Good thing, if we see the steps
that were taken to get us where we are today – overcoming
challenges and moving us forward. imho

    1. What a helpful article! Thank you for sharing it J. The whole article is thought changing; but the last line helped me the most! “As we humbly consent to divine Love’s healing action, we are absolved of the impulse to mourn the past or to carry forward its emotional wounds. Rather, we expunge “if onlys” and reinterpret them in accord with the consistency of the Science of being and its ever-present health, holiness, and harmony—our true record.” Wow!

Merriam-Webster defines absolve as: “…releasing someone from blame or sin, or “loosening” the hold that responsibility or guilt has on a person, which provides a hint about the word’s origins. Absolve was adopted into Middle English in the 15th century from the Latin verb absolvere (“to release, acquit, finish, complete”), formed by combining the prefix ab- (“from, away, off”) with solvere, meaning “to loosen.” Absolve also once had additional senses of “to finish or accomplish” and “to resolve or explain,” but these are now obsolete. Solvere is also the ancestor of the English words solve, dissolve, resolve, solvent, and solution.”

      What a freeing realization!
