Consciousness constructs a better body when faith in matter has been conquered.
~ Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 425
So, if one is hoping for a “better body,” it’s wise to ask, “Where is my faith? Is it in matter or in divine Mind?”
Faith in matter leads to despair, discouragement, and feelings of helplessness, for matter simply can’t deliver what comes only from divine Mind.
Divine Mind is the source and producer of all intelligent action. Divine Mind only knows how to produce conditions and qualities of health, harmony, and peace.
When thought reflects the harmony and peace of divine Mind, the peace it feels within translates into peace felt throughout the body. The same rule applies to health, which originates in Mind too.
As faith moves from matter to Mind, it feels more of Mind’s uplifting healing influence. Doubt yields to confidence. Fear yields to Love. Error yields to Truth. Disease yields to health.
For the best results, let divine Mind alone shape and form your thought. Let Truth and Love form your outlook, determine how you feel, and mold and shape your point of view with spiritual ideals. As thought feels in sync with God, the body falls into line for it is an obedient servant to the mind that governs it.
Let divine Mind, not mortal mind, govern thought and body. You’ll be happy with the results.
Thank you, Evan! This explanation will help me and so many others today.

Just what I needed. Thank you!
Lovely. Thanks, Evan!
Love this! Thank you so much. Conquering faith in matter – that is
a good goal to try to achieve. Lovely!
How wonderful that “Divine Mind only knows how to produce conditions and qualities of health, harmony, and peace.” This is so freeing. And there is nothing else, nothing to oppose this, just Divine Mind and Mind’s creation.
Thankyou Evan, This is exactly what I needed today. I’ll be working with this through out today. Thankyou so much for bringing us Spirit View what a Blessing! much love
Thank you Evan. I am happy to be reminded that, “body falls into line because it is an obedient servant to the Mind which governs it.”
When God says All Is Well, body must comply, it has no choice. Yay!
Blessings and thanks to all here on SV.
The body is obedient to the mind (Mind) that governs it. If there is only one Mind, then the body can, MUST, only reflect perfect harmony !
Good News ! Thank you!
Thank you Evan!!! Wonderful post, as I work with people all around me that talk about their “issues” with themselves.
Thank you for this SpiritView today! It has really given me a wonderful spiritual lift!
SiGh…. I was just about to (once again!) try to conquer this… excess weight with Yoga/Qi Gong/Walking/etc. Wronng again. And of course you are totally correct, Evan, as always, or at least most of the time! It is so helpful learning How to Know The Truth better, with your example. Thank you, as ever and always.
Now…to exercise my faith, hope, and trust in infinite, ever-present, divine goodness and Love!
A sweet time, and always productive.
Sue
Hi Sue…I didn’t see your post before making my post below. I read Karen’s article again last night and decided it would be a good article to share with everyone. Much love to you!
Thank you Evan and all. Evan’s post made me think of this citation from S&H:
—————
We need a clean body and a clean mind, — a body rendered pure by Mind as well as washed by water. One says: “I take good care of my body.” To do this, the pure and exalting influence of the divine Mind on the body is requisite, and the Christian Scientist takes the best care of his body when he leaves it most out of his thought, and, like the Apostle Paul, is “willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord.”
(Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 383:3)
—————
Here’s an article that has been shared before, but I think it illustrates well the fact that keeping body mostly “out of thought” and focusing instead of God’s truth, as Evan described today, is when disorders disappear and we realize harmony again in our experience…where it’s always been. Notice that Karen Neff’s healing occurred when she “never thought about the weight problem again, only the truth.”

Thank you for the Karen Neff article Robert, I loved what she said about really holding on to a Truth message that God gives us when we pray, and not move on to search for new healing ideas if there are no seeming immediate results, Hold your ground and you will win, as Mrs, Eddy said.
I’m so grateful for this SpiritView conversation. The postings, image, and testimony by Karen Neff are very uplifting. I love what Sue said about exercising “faith, hope, and trust in infinite, ever-present, divine goodness and Love!” (Hi Sue!) Now that’s exercise that is 100% joy with no downside! “Let us lay aside every weight” (Heb. 12:1).
I also want to share some other things from Evan Mehlenbacher which I have found very helpful:
