A better form of waiting

Are you waiting around for something to happen in the future?  If so, why wait?

In divine Science, one learns that all of God’s good is present to experience now.  One does not need to wait for it.

Jesus Christ approaches a sick man in Bethesda who is lying next to a pool that is supposed to possess healing powers.  The ailing man has been lying there for 38 years waiting for a chance to get into the pool before someone else does, which he believes is necessary for healing to happen.

Jesus asks him, “Would you like to get well?” (John 5:2-9, NLT).  The man makes excuses for why he continues to suffer, not seeing the opportunity Jesus is providing to see himself well instantly.

In essence, Jesus is saying, “Why are you waiting for something material to happen?  You can be well in Spirit now.”

To prove his point, Jesus tells him, “Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!”  And the man is healed.  No more waiting.

When we understand health and abundance to flow directly from God to us in a spiritual form, waiting becomes obsolete.  We don’t have to wait on passing time to receive what God is giving us now.  Time is irrelevant.  Success is about open-mindedness and receptivity to what is already coming our way.

When we look to Spirit for help, we find immediate help.  Time is not a factor.

So, if you’re waiting on passing time to make things better, speed things up by waiting on God instead.  The results are much better, and quicker.

  1. KJV-A more spiritual view that states that the man was made WHOLE immediately. Whole meaning that we are ALWAYS the reflection of God. If we say that we have to be healed then we are excepting that there is something wrong that needs to be corrected and we
are not accepting God’s WHOLENESS. This wholeness is IMMEDIATE, nothing needs to be healed. WE ARE WHOLE and forever will be.

  2. yes Now is the accepted time.. Behold Now is the day of salvation (deliverance, wholeness, soundness completeness health).

    1. Thanks very much dear J for Jenny Sawyer’s so clear and inspiring article. It’s so very helpful and healing!! ♡

  3. I dont know how to post the link, but there is an excellent article on this topic in the April 1912 C.S. Journal that I discovered this week. The title is “Time and Healing” and it’s by Philip R. Kellar.

      1. Hi Kathie & Nan, thank you for sharing this article. Unfortunately, the article won’t open completely for those that aren’t subscribers to JSH-online. Maybe someone has a shareable copy to attach. 🙂

      2. Thank you Evan for the good thoughts on waiting on God. I’ve been doing that. I woke from a dream of good that was sabotaged in the past by evil and I gave up on it manifesting again so it was depressing. And thanks to Kathie & Nan for that article. It opened completely for me & was helpful.

  5. This timeless message of God’s Now-ness is a real blessing to read and
    experience. Thank you!
I am reminded of Hymn #82,

“God is working His purpose out As year succeeds to year,
    God is working His purpose out And the time is drawing near;
Nearer and nearer draws the time, The time that shall surely be,
When the earth shall be filled with the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea? …
… What can we do to hasten the time, The time that shall surely be,
When the earth shall be filled with the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea? …
March we forth in the strength of God …
… that the earth may be filled with the glory of God
As the waters cover the sea.”

Just as the “waters cover the sea”, we are being comforted and adored
by God’s Love right Here, right Now, wherever we are – God’s good is
present with us. What a beautiful thought!

  7. When I read this bible story, I am reminded that we are not victims, not dependent on others or material circumstances. We are and always have been the complete and spiritual reflection of God who supplies our every need.
